Vauxhall Vectra windscreen price, by year

Prices vary depending on the generation and trim specification of your Vectra. Earlier 1990s and early-2000s models without advanced glazing features are typically the most affordable to replace. Later variants with rain sensors, solar-control coatings, or blue sun strips carry higher costs due to the increased complexity of the glass specification.

Very easy to book online and cheap!

Very easy to book online, and the quote I had was 50% less than the more well known AutoGlass. Friendly service, turned up when expected and did the job professionally and quickly.

Do not recommend to anyone.

I would never recommend this company to anyone due to terrible customer service, poor communication and in my opinion, very untrustworthy. This company will take your money just to contact back to say they're unavailable. A poor way of doing business and gives you false hope.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Vectra?

Most Vectra windscreen replacements are fitted mobile at your home or workplace — our local specialists bring everything needed to your location. Because the Vectra was produced before widespread ADAS adoption, calibration is not typically required after replacement. Your fitter will confirm whether mobile or workshop fitting is best for your specific variant and location.

  • Light Sensor3
    2002–2009

On the Vauxhall Vectra: fitted on 3 of the 7 windscreen variants we list (43%); model years 2002–2009.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Rain Sensor3
    2002–2009No calibration after replacement

On the Vauxhall Vectra: fitted on 3 of the 7 windscreen variants we list (43%); model years 2002–2009; no calibration after replacement.

    What it means

An optical sensor that automatically activates your wipers when it detects rainfall, improving safety in wet conditions.

    On your Vauxhall Vectra

More common on later Vectras from the mid-2000s and on higher trims; confirmed during your quote.

  • Clear1
    2002–2009Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Vauxhall Vectra: fitted on 1 of the 7 windscreen variants we list (14%); model years 2002–2009; calibration varies by vehicle.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

    • 1None

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Coating1
    2002–2009

On the Vauxhall Vectra: fitted on 1 of the 7 windscreen variants we list (14%); model years 2002–2009.

Coated windscreens have a blue or purple tint and protect your car from UV rays and heat.

    What it means

A coated windscreen has a special protective layer applied to the glass that appears as a blue or purple tint and often reflects a silvery-blue colour in bright sunlight. This coating is designed to reduce the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that enters the vehicle, helping to keep the interior cooler and protecting upholstery and dashboard components from UV damage and fading. The coating is integral to the glass and doesn't require any special maintenance from you.

    How to tell

Look at your windscreen in bright daylight — a coated windscreen will show a distinct blue or purple tint and a silvery-blue reflection when the sun hits it directly. Check your vehicle's service booklet or window sticker (usually on the driver's door jamb), which may list the glass specification. Alternatively, ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your windscreen carries a UV or heat-rejection coating.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a coated windscreen, the replacement glass must match the original specification — including the coating type and tint level — to maintain the same UV and heat protection and to preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Original-equipment or equivalent aftermarket coated glass is sourced to specification. The coating is applied during glass manufacture; no post-fit treatment is required. Fitting and cure times are unaffected by the presence of the coating.

About the Vauxhall Vectra

The Vauxhall Vectra was in continuous production from 1996 to 2009, spanning three distinct generations. Early models featured straightforward laminated windscreens with minimal tinting, while later variants introduced green or blue-tinted glass and sun strips to reduce glare.

From the mid-2000s onwards, later Vectras also began incorporating rain sensors and solar-control coatings as standard on some trim levels, improving comfort and safety in poor weather conditions.

Some Vauxhall Vectra windscreens have a rain sensor. Read what a rain sensor does.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

The Vectra predates modern driver-assistance systems, so camera calibration is not required. Your replacement is a straightforward job with no additional technical procedures needed after the glass is fitted.

Tinting is built into the glass during manufacturing to reduce heat, glare, and UV exposure — it's not a cosmetic choice but a safety and comfort feature. Most of the tint is subtle and you'll barely notice it, but your replacement must match your original specification exactly.

The blue sun strip is a darker band across the top of the windscreen that reduces glare specifically from above, without affecting your main forward view. If your original has a sun strip, your replacement must too — a plain windscreen won't show the band.

Costs vary based on your specific generation and trim — earlier models without advanced features are typically more affordable, while later variants with sensors or coatings carry higher costs. Your instant online quote will show the exact price for your variant before you book.
