Jaguar XJ windscreen price, by year

Variation in pricing reflects generation, ADAS equipment, and acoustic-glass availability. Earlier non-ADAS XJs tend to be the most affordable, while newer models with InControl cameras and heated or acoustic windscreens carry higher calibration and component costs. Diesel and electric variants sometimes include factory acoustic glass for noise reduction.

I would personally avoid

I would personally avoid. They lul you in with a complicated qualification process. Then manually re quote with a higher price. Then Kayla called me with a quote triple the online quotation immediately on the offensive trying to blame I hadn’t described my car correctly. Just a simple reg number should find the right screen, but that wasn’t the case for me. It seems they definitely have an upsell angle. Very disappointed with the confrontational call after.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your XJ?

Most Jaguar XJ windscreen replacements can be completed on a mobile basis at your home or workplace. However, if your XJ is equipped with the InControl Driver Assistance camera system, static calibration is required after replacement and typically performed at a workshop to ensure precision.

Our no-split policy means the entire job — replacement and calibration — is scheduled at one location to guarantee safety-critical calibration is completed. Your technician will confirm the best location during the booking process.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Defogging Detector3
    2012–2019

On the Jaguar XJ: fitted on 3 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (50%); model years 2012–2019.

A defogging detector automatically clears condensation from your windscreen, improving visibility in damp conditions.

    What it means

A defogging detector is a sensor that monitors moisture levels on the windscreen and triggers the demister system automatically when condensation builds up. It improves driver visibility and safety in damp or cold weather by preventing manual intervention. The sensor typically sits near the rear-view mirror, positioned to sense moisture accumulation on the glass surface.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer's service centre whether your model includes an automatic defogging or moisture-sensing demister. Look near the rear-view mirror for a small sensor unit. Some vehicles display an indicator light or message on the dashboard when the system is active.

    Replacement impact

The defogging detector does not affect windscreen replacement or require recalibration after fitting. The sensor itself remains in place and continues to function once the new windscreen is installed. No additional calibration, cure time, or specialist procedures are needed.

  • Solar Control3
    2003–2019

On the Jaguar XJ: fitted on 3 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (50%); model years 2003–2019.

Solar control glass absorbs infrared rays to reduce heat and improve cabin comfort.

    What it means

Solar control is a coating applied to the windscreen that absorbs the sun's infrared radiation rather than allowing it to pass through into the cabin. This reduces solar heat gain, helping to keep the interior cooler and more comfortable, particularly in warm weather or direct sunlight. The coating is transparent to visible light, so it doesn't darken the windscreen or affect visibility. It's a passive thermal management feature that works continuously whenever the sun is shining on the glass.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact your dealership service centre to confirm whether solar control glass is fitted. Some manufacturers list it as 'solar control windscreen', 'heat-reflective glass', or 'thermal management glass'. It's a factory-fitted feature and won't be visibly obvious from outside the car — the coating is integral to the glass itself.

    Replacement impact

Solar control glass is a factory-fitted specification. When replacing the windscreen, a solar control variant must be sourced to match the original. This is a standard glass type with no special fitting implications or calibration requirements. Cure and drive-away times follow normal windscreen bonding procedures. Confirm with your fitter that the replacement glass includes solar control to maintain the original thermal performance.

  • Light Sensor2
    2012–2019

On the Jaguar XJ: fitted on 2 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2012–2019.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Camera1
    2017–2019Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Jaguar XJ: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2017–2019; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A forward-facing ADAS camera mounted behind the windscreen supporting lane-keep assist, emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition via the InControl Driver Assistance package.

    On your Jaguar XJ

Look for one or two triangular shapes in the black frit area near the rear-view mirror. Present on higher-specification XJ models with the InControl safety package; confirmed at the quote stage.

About the Jaguar XJ

The Jaguar XJ has been a flagship saloon since 1968, evolving through several generations with increasingly sophisticated glass technology. Earlier models carry straightforward laminated windscreens, while models from the mid-2000s onwards feature rain sensors, heated glass, and acoustic interlayers on select variants.

From around 2010 onwards, higher-specification XJ models began incorporating the InControl Driver Assistance package, which includes a forward-facing windscreen camera for lane-keep assist, emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition. Any XJ equipped with this safety suite requires camera recalibration after windscreen replacement.
