Ford S-Max rear window price, by year

Pricing varies with generation, trim level, and glass specification. Earlier S-Max models without encapsulation or specialist hardware are typically more affordable. Later variants with encapsulated trim, antenna integration, or solar-control options carry higher costs due to more complex sourcing and fitting.

Excellent price and service

Excellent price and service. Small glitch that the Saturday booking I made (on Thursday evening) could not be done as rear window was not available until Monday, but easy to chat to customer service on WhatsApp. Window was fitted by their local partner Premier Windscreens. Took around 30minutes including vacuuming out the car interior. Very polite guys who did the job, and also adjusted wiper and rear washer nozzles to be sure all was good.

What to expect during your Ford S-Max rear window replacement

Rear window replacement is a straightforward process from quote to fitting.

  1. 1

You answer a quick quiz (make, model, year, features) to get an instant quote—the system identifies your exact glass specification and any trim-specific hardware.

  2. 2

Once you book online, our parts team verifies the glass is in stock and matches your factory specification.

  3. 3

You're matched with a specialist in your area who confirms the fitting date and location (mobile at your address or at a workshop, depending on your preference).

  4. 4

On fitting day, your fitter removes the shattered rear window and fits the replacement, clearing accessible glass shards as part of the job.

  5. 5

We recommend a professional valet or interior clean afterwards to remove any small shards that may have lodged in hard-to-reach places like seat tracks or trim channels.

  6. 6

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

The entire process—from quote to booking—takes under two minutes online.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your S-Max?

Rear window replacement on the S-Max is typically a mobile job—your fitter can fit the glass at your home or workplace. Unlike windscreen replacement, rear windows don't trigger camera calibration because the S-Max is not equipped with rear-facing ADAS systems.

You can choose a workshop visit if you prefer, or arrange mobile fitting for convenience. Either way, plan for the fitter's arrival and allow time afterwards for a professional valet to thoroughly clear any glass shards from the interior.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen4
    2006–2023

On the Ford S-Max: fitted on every one of the 4 rear window variants we list; model years 2006–2023.

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Antenna2
    2015–2023

On the Ford S-Max: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2015–2023.

    What it means

An aerial laminated into the rear glass for radio or DAB reception, replacing a traditional mast. A replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector.

    On your Ford S-Max

Antenna integration appears on select later-generation S-Max trims; confirmed during the quote if your variant includes it.

  • Green2
    2006–2023

On the Ford S-Max: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2006–2023.

    What it means

A subtle green tint applied to the rear glass as standard—present on most vehicles but easy to miss.

    On your Ford S-Max

About 90% of all automotive glass carries a faint tint; your replacement will match your original tint, confirmed during the parts check.

  • Grey Privacy2
    2006–2023

On the Ford S-Max: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2006–2023.

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Solar Control1
    2006–2015

On the Ford S-Max: fitted on 1 of the 4 rear window variants we list (25%); model years 2006–2015.

    What it means

A solar-control coating that absorbs infrared rays, helping reduce cabin heat on sunny days—an optional premium specification on some trims.

    On your Ford S-Max

Solar-control rear glass is fitted to certain higher-specification S-Max variants; confirmed during the parts check if your model carries it.

About the Ford S-Max

The Ford S-Max has been in continuous production since 2006, spanning three main generations with steady evolution in glass specification. Early models (2006–2014) carried straightforward toughened rear windows, while later generations introduced encapsulated trim and antenna integration on select variants.

From the mid-2010s onwards, higher-specification trims began featuring solar-control glass and dual-tint options—darker rear windows paired with lighter front glazing. The S-Max remains primarily a non-ADAS model for rear glass, so replacement focuses on matching the original tint, trim, and any factory-fitted hardware rather than camera recalibration.
