Ford Ranger rear window price, by year

Pricing varies with generation, tint specification, and whether the rear window includes heating elements. Early Rangers without heated glass are typically the most affordable to replace. Later models with heated rear windows and integrated demisting systems carry higher costs due to component complexity. Flat versus curved rear quarter panels also influence pricing, as do any specialist trim or protective coatings on the glass.

Very knowledgeable of the windscreen that my vehicle needed, as there are lots of different ones for the make of vehicle i drive, also when i phoned i was given plenty of choice of available days for fitting the new windscreen to my vehicle too, so no inconvenience or hassle at all, very helpful, fast and friendly service - words often over used, but using here, as I very much appreciated the service, 10 out of 10 !! 5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Ford Ranger rear window replacement

Booking a Ranger rear window replacement through UKCG is straightforward — our widget quiz identifies your exact variant, and you're matched with a local fitter.

  1. 1

Use the online quiz to tell us your Ranger's year, generation, and visible features — no registration needed.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote covering parts and fitting.

  3. 3

Complete your booking online; our team verifies the exact glass specification matches your truck before the fitting appointment.

  4. 4

On the day, your fitter arrives with the correct replacement glass, removes the shattered rear window, and instals the new unit — typically 30–60 minutes of their time.

  5. 5

Shards from the broken glass are cleared as part of the fit, though small fragments can lodge in hard-to-reach places; we recommend a professional interior valet afterwards for thorough detailing.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before leaving, and your replacement is covered by our two-year warranty.

From quote to road-ready, the whole process is designed to get your Ranger back on the job with minimal disruption.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Ranger?

Most Ford Ranger rear window replacements can be carried out at your location — the fitter arrives with the replacement glass and completes the job on site. Since rear windows are not part of the ADAS camera system, calibration is not required.

However, if weather conditions are poor (heavy rain, strong wind) or your location offers limited working space, you may prefer a workshop appointment. Your fitter will discuss this with you when confirming the booking, and the choice is yours.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen3
    1999–2026

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Clear1
    1999–2006Calibration varies by vehicle

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings.

  • Green1
    2012–2026

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Green Privacy1
    2012–2026

Dark green tint on rear and side windows is a factory colour choice, not a safety or performance feature.

    What it means

Dark green is a factory tint applied to the glass during manufacture. It's purely aesthetic — a colour variant chosen by the vehicle designer to complement the body paint and interior trim. Unlike some tints that reduce solar heat or glare, dark green is decorative. Most vehicles have standard or light green glass; dark green is less common and typically found on specific trim levels or model years.

    How to tell

Look at your rear and side windows from outside the car in daylight. If they appear noticeably darker or more saturated green than the front windscreen, you likely have dark green glass. You can also check your vehicle's specification sheet from the dealer or original documentation — tint colour is sometimes listed under 'glass' or 'exterior finishes'. If uncertain, ask your local dealership service centre.

    Replacement impact

Dark green replacement glass must match the original tint colour exactly — a standard or light green windscreen will look visibly mismatched against dark green rear windows. Sourcing the correct variant can take slightly longer than standard glass, as it's less common. No calibration is involved with tinted glass itself. Fitting and cure time are unaffected.

About the Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger has been in production since 1998 and remains one of the UK's most popular light commercial vehicles. As a working truck, the Ranger's rear window sees consistent use and exposure to UV, temperature swings, and the rigours of site work.

Ranger rear windows come in different specifications depending on generation and trim. Some variants feature heated rear glass for demisting capability, whilst others use unheated specification. A proportion carry a subtle green tint, typical of modern automotive glass; a smaller subset features a darker green tint on the rear side windows. Some models have flat rear quarter glass panels rather than curved, reflecting the truck's utilitarian design.

Older Rangers carry straightforward toughened rear glass with no integrated electronics. Newer models may include defrost wiring or other functional elements, making identification and sourcing crucial for a correct fit.
