The Ford S-Max has been in continuous production since 2006, spanning three main generations with steady evolution in glass specification. Early models (2006–2014) carried straightforward toughened rear windows, while later generations introduced encapsulated trim and antenna integration on select variants.
From the mid-2010s onwards, higher-specification trims began featuring solar-control glass and dual-tint options—darker rear windows paired with lighter front glazing. The S-Max remains primarily a non-ADAS model for rear glass, so replacement focuses on matching the original tint, trim, and any factory-fitted hardware rather than camera recalibration.
