You will receive a call from us by 5pm advising you of a time to collect the vehicle by.

Does UK Car Glass use original car glass in its replacements?

All of our glass comes from the same manufacturers who supply glass to the car factories. Therefore, our glass replacements meet all the original equipment (OE) requirements. The only difference to the glass we use is that it doesn’t bear the stamp of the car brand. So with us you get the same high-quality glass that you would at an authorised car repair shop.

What causes cracks in windscreens to spread?

The most common reason for a spreading crack is a change in temperature. If you have any damage to your windscreen, it’s important to get it repaired as soon as possible. Cracks also spread in relation to their position and any jarring or bumping of the car along rough roads. Any pressure on the inside of the windscreen, especially near the damage, will also cause it to spread. Finally, a crack that is contaminated (for instance, one filled with liquid) is also likely to spread. Place a sticker or tape over the damage to keep it dry and clean until you can get it repaired or replaced.

Do you need a windscreen for MOT?

A windscreen cannot have a chip larger than 1 cm in the driver’s line of sight to pass the MOT. A chip or crack larger than 4 cm anywhere on the windscreen will almost certainly result in a failed MOT.

When it’s raining or there’s strong wind, we need some cover over the vehicle in order to complete a car glass replacement. If you need to change your appointment for any other reason, please let us know in good time so that we can reschedule the car glass replacement for you.

Did you know that 90% of all windscreens have a green colour tone? If your front windscreen has a colour tone, then so do your side windows. The fastest way to check for colour tone is to hold a white piece of paper against a side window. The paper will take a slight green or blue hue if the window has a colour tone.

Can I choose the cheapest windscreen?

Of course. You’ll have the option to choose the windscreen replacement you want after responding to the questions on the website. These questions help us to determine if you have anything like special electronics that we’ll need to remove and reinstall when we replace your windscreen.

Is OEM car glass better than aftermarket glass?

The quality of our windscreens is set by our supplier. Our supplier manufactures and buys windscreens made by original equipment manufacturers (OEM) but that are used on the aftermarket. What this means is that the windscreens we use are often the same quality as OEM windscreens, they just don’t have the car brand’s logo printed on them.

You’re welcome to bring your car into a UK Car Glass centre, but why not make use of our mobile service at no extra cost? We can come to your home, your office, the beach or the tennis court car park – whenever/ wherever suits you! All you need to do is loan us the car key and we will take care of the rest!

We offer a two-year warranty on all car glass replacements. We also give a warranty on the installation of the car glass. Just let us know if anything hasn’t gone the way you wanted, and we’ll come out to repair or replace it as soon as possible.

How do cancellations work?

We have a free of charge cancellation policy until the day before your appointment. If you choose to cancel for any reason beside any error we may have made then we charge a £68 cancellation fee as we would already have done your parts check, ordered the glass and had a technician pick it up from a supplier.
