Hyundai Elantra windscreen price, by year

Pricing varies depending on whether your Elantra is equipped with the SmartSense camera system. Camera-equipped models require static calibration after replacement, which increases technician time and may necessitate a workshop visit rather than a mobile fitting. Variants without ADAS are more straightforward and typically faster to complete.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Hyundai Elantra windscreen replacement

Booking your Elantra windscreen replacement is straightforward and takes just a few minutes online.

  1. 1

Answer a short series of questions about your Elantra's year and features — this confirms the exact windscreen variant you need, including whether your model has the blue sun strip and SmartSense camera.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote based on your variant and current glass availability. The price accounts for any calibration work if your Elantra is camera-equipped.

  3. 3

Complete your booking online and choose a fitting date. If calibration is required, your appointment will be scheduled at a workshop; otherwise, mobile fitting at your home or workplace is available.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your technician will replace the windscreen with one matched to your factory specification. If SmartSense is present, static camera calibration is performed immediately after the glass is set.

  5. 5

Your fitter will confirm the drive-away time before leaving — typically the same whether or not calibration is needed, as it runs in parallel with adhesive cure.

All replacements come with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality, so you're protected from day one.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Elantra?

Many Elantra models in this generation are equipped with SmartSense, which includes a front-view camera mounted to the windscreen. When the windscreen is replaced, the camera bracket must be recalibrated using Hyundai diagnostic software — this is a safety-critical step that ensures lane-keeping and collision-avoidance systems function correctly.

If your Elantra has SmartSense, your fitting will be scheduled at a workshop where the calibration target and diagnostic equipment are available. Non-camera models can be fitted mobile at your address if you prefer. Your fitter will confirm the location during booking.

  • Blue Sun Strip1
    2001–2007

A blue-tinted gradient band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare without affecting your view of the road.

    What it means

A blue sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the upper edge of your windscreen's laminate layer. It reduces glare from sunlight reflecting off the road and bonnet without darkening your main field of vision. The tint is created during manufacture as part of the glass laminate itself — it cannot be added or removed later. Sun strips are a windscreen-only feature; rear and side windows cannot carry this effect because they use tempered rather than laminated glass.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the car — you'll see a distinct blue-tinted band running horizontally across the upper portion. Check your vehicle's specification sheet or ask your dealership service centre whether your windscreen is listed as a 'blue sun strip' or 'tinted sun strip' variant. Your invoice or parts manual will confirm it.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a blue sun strip, the replacement must be the sun-strip variant — a standard plain windscreen will not replicate the tinted band. Your replacement glass is sourced as an exact match to your original specification. There are no additional calibration or cure implications beyond a standard windscreen replacement. Fitting and drive-away times remain unchanged.

  • Green1
    2001–2007

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

About the Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra has been a consistent compact saloon in the UK market since 2001, evolving through several generations. Early models from the 2001–2007 range feature straightforward laminated windscreens with a blue sun strip as standard, designed to reduce glare from above without affecting forward visibility.

As the Elantra progressed through later generations, Hyundai began introducing SmartSense — an advanced driver-assistance suite that includes a front-view camera mounted to the windscreen for lane-keeping and forward collision avoidance. Whenever a camera-equipped Elantra needs windscreen replacement, the camera bracket requires recalibration using Hyundai diagnostic tools to ensure the safety systems work correctly.
