Windscreen replacement bookings made through UK Car Glass, January 2024 to September 2026

UK Car Glass is an online booking platform for windscreen replacement. Drivers get an instant price for the exact glass their vehicle needs, and the job is carried out by a nationwide network of independent fitting technicians. Every booking records which windscreen was ordered, so our data gives a view of the glass being fitted across the UK.

A growing share of those windscreens carry a camera or sensor for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). When one of these windscreens is replaced, the camera must be recalibrated before systems such as lane keeping and autonomous emergency braking can be relied on again.

This short report sets out what our booking data shows about that shift. It is based on more than 1,000 windscreen replacement bookings made between January 2024 and September 2026.

Key findings

  • More than 1 in 4 windscreen replacement bookings now involve ADAS glass. In April–September 2026 it was 27 in every 100, up from 16 in every 100 over the same months of 2025.
  • 2015 is the tipping point. About half of windscreens for 2015–2019 cars carry ADAS equipment, and 9 in 10 for 2020-onwards cars. For 2010–2014 cars it is fewer than 1 in 10.
  • The rise follows the age of UK cars. As cars built from 2015 onwards make up more of the replacement market, the ADAS share will keep climbing.
  • Some makes are ADAS-heavy. Every Tesla windscreen booked was ADAS glass. For Volvo nearly 1 in 2 windscreen bookings involve ADAS glass, and for Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz more than 1 in 3. The average across all makes is about 1 in 6.

1. ADAS glass per 100 windscreen bookings

Windscreen demand is seasonal, so each period is compared with the same months a year earlier.

PeriodADAS glass per 100 windscreen bookings
2024 (full year)15
2025 (full year)15
April–September 202516
April–September 202627

The rate held steady at about 15 in every 100 through 2024 and 2025. Comparing the same six months of each year, it rose by more than two thirds in 2026, from 16 to 27 in every 100.

2. 2015 is the tipping point

We grouped every booking by the first model year the windscreen was made for.

Glass designed for vehicles fromADAS glass per 100 bookingsShare of all ADAS bookings
Before 2010fewer than 11%
2010–2014817%
2015–20195261%
2020 onwards9222%

Before 2015, cameras on the windscreen were the exception. From 2015 they become standard equipment on half of new glass, and from 2020 on almost all of it. Most bookings today are still for older cars, which keeps the overall rate near 1 in 4. As older cars leave the road, the overall rate should move towards the 2015-onwards levels.

3. ADAS share by vehicle make

Makes with the most ADAS windscreen bookings, January 2024 to September 2026:

4. What drivers are pricing

Nearly 4 in 10 windscreen price lookups (38%) are for ADAS glass, consistently month to month. Demand for ADAS windscreens, and the calibration that goes with them, is higher than completed bookings alone suggest.

5. What this means

  • For drivers: if your car was built from around 2015 onwards, assume a windscreen replacement will need a camera calibration. There are two kinds. A dynamic calibration is done by driving the car at set speeds on clearly marked roads. A static calibration uses targets placed in front of the car and needs a controlled environment: a level floor, consistent lighting and enough space. That means a workshop, not a driveway or a car park. Many cars need a static calibration, and some need both. Ask your provider how and where the calibration will be done before the job is booked, because a fitting at home may not be able to include it.
  • For fitters, glass providers and garages: calibration capacity has to grow with the age profile of UK cars. One job in four is a current figure, not a ceiling. Fitters without calibration equipment or workshop access will be able to complete a shrinking share of windscreen jobs end to end. They will either lose that work to providers who can, or need a calibration partner to finish it.
  • For fleets and insurers: calibration is now a routine part of windscreen claims, so time and cost assumptions should reflect that.

Methodology

  • Source: UK Car Glass booking records, January 2024 to September 2026. We included every windscreen (front glass) replacement booking that was confirmed and not cancelled, more than 1,000 bookings in total. Abandoned and cancelled bookings are excluded.
  • What counts as ADAS: a booking counts as ADAS when the specific windscreen part booked is listed in our glass catalogue with a camera, calibration or LiDAR feature. This is the same rule we use to tell customers a calibration is likely to be needed.
  • What this measures: it measures ADAS-equipped glass, not calibrations completed. Most ADAS glass needs a calibration after fitting, but calibrations are not recorded separately in our booking data. The figures should therefore be read as the share of bookings where calibration is expected, not as a count of calibrations performed.
  • Price lookups: windscreen prices shown to visitors on the UK Car Glass website, May to September 2026, counting the last windscreen priced in each visit.
  • Seasonality: windscreen demand varies through the year, so the trend is compared like for like (April–September 2026 against April–September 2025) alongside full calendar years.
  • Date: each booking is dated by the day it was made.
  • Systems: in May 2026 UK Car Glass moved to a new booking platform. The ADAS rule and the glass catalogue it relies on are the same before and after the move. The rise was already visible on the previous platform in late 2025 and early 2026.
  • Limitations: the analysis uses the part selected at booking. In a small number of cases the glass is corrected during a parts check before fitting.
