Volkswagen Multivan windscreen price, by year

Pricing varies primarily between earlier and later Multivans in our range. Models without camera systems are generally more straightforward and affordable to replace. Those equipped with front-facing cameras and heated windscreen technology require post-fit calibration, which involves workshop-based static alignment and adds complexity to the job, reflected in the overall cost.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Volkswagen Multivan windscreen replacement

Booking your Multivan windscreen replacement through UK Car Glass is a straightforward process from quote to handover.

  1. 1

Visit our online quote tool and answer a few quick questions about your Multivan — model, year, and key features — in around a minute.

  2. 2

Once you've confirmed your quote, our parts-check team verifies the exact glass specification for your variant to ensure a perfect fit.

  3. 3

We match you with an approved fitter in your area who stocks the correct replacement glass and has the skills for any ADAS calibration if needed.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your fitter arrives with the glass and all necessary materials. Non-ADAS windscreens typically take 45–90 minutes; camera-equipped variants take longer as calibration is completed after the glass is set.

  5. 5

If your Multivan has a camera system, the fitter calibrates it indoors using printed targets and diagnostic tools — this runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so drive-away time isn't extended.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the minimum drive-away time before leaving, and you're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

All replacements are matched to your factory specification and are UK-approved for the road.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Multivan?

Most Multivans are fitted at your address as standard mobile service. However, if your variant is equipped with a mono camera system for driver assistance, the job is scheduled at a workshop because static calibration requires printed target boards and a controlled environment to align the sensor properly.

This keeps the entire job in one location, ensuring the safety-critical calibration is completed and documented correctly. Drive-away time is confirmed by your fitter on the day and isn't extended by the calibration process.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Solar Control13
    2004–2026

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 13 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (72%); model years 2004–2026.

Solar control glass absorbs infrared rays to reduce heat and improve cabin comfort.

    What it means

Solar control is a coating applied to the windscreen that absorbs the sun's infrared radiation rather than allowing it to pass through into the cabin. This reduces solar heat gain, helping to keep the interior cooler and more comfortable, particularly in warm weather or direct sunlight. The coating is transparent to visible light, so it doesn't darken the windscreen or affect visibility. It's a passive thermal management feature that works continuously whenever the sun is shining on the glass.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact your dealership service centre to confirm whether solar control glass is fitted. Some manufacturers list it as 'solar control windscreen', 'heat-reflective glass', or 'thermal management glass'. It's a factory-fitted feature and won't be visibly obvious from outside the car — the coating is integral to the glass itself.

    Replacement impact

Solar control glass is a factory-fitted specification. When replacing the windscreen, a solar control variant must be sourced to match the original. This is a standard glass type with no special fitting implications or calibration requirements. Cure and drive-away times follow normal windscreen bonding procedures. Confirm with your fitter that the replacement glass includes solar control to maintain the original thermal performance.

  • Light Sensor7
    2004–2026

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 7 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (39%); model years 2004–2026.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)6
    2009–2026

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 6 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2009–2026.

    What it means

A laminated interlayer in the windscreen reduces road noise and wind sound, making cabin conversations easier during motorway drives.

    On your Volkswagen Multivan

Standard on all Multivans from 2015 onwards in our catalogue — confirmed at the quote stage.

  • Grey Sun Strip5
    2004–2015

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 5 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (28%); model years 2004–2015.

A grey-tinted band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare from sunlight and reflections above.

    What it means

A grey sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the top edge of the windscreen during manufacture. It sits within the laminated glass layers and gradually fades from opaque grey at the very top to clear further down. The strip is designed to reduce glare and reflections from sunlight, street lights, and oncoming headlights, improving comfort and visibility for the driver without obstructing the view of traffic signals or overhead hazards. Sun strips are a factory-applied feature unique to windscreens—they cannot be added to side or rear glass because those are typically toughened rather than laminated.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the vehicle. You will see a grey-tinted band that fades to clear glass. The tint is gradual and integral to the glass itself, not a removable film or coating. Your vehicle's service records or handbook may also list it as a standard feature. If unsure, ask your dealer or service centre whether your specific model includes a sun strip.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a sun strip, the replacement glass must be sourced in the exact matching variant—including the sun-strip tint and fade profile. Aftermarket and OE glass are both available for most vehicles, but the variant must be correct to match your original. There is no calibration required for the sun strip itself. If your windscreen also carries camera or sensor features, those will be calibrated separately according to your vehicle's needs.

  • Antenna4
    2004–2009

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 4 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (22%); model years 2004–2009.

An aerial laminated into the windscreen or rear window restores radio, DAB or TV reception without a roof-mounted mast.

    What it means

An antenna is a conductive print laminated into the glass during manufacture, typically used for radio, DAB (digital audio broadcasting) or television reception. It replaces the traditional roof-mounted aerial mast found on older vehicles. The antenna is integrated into the glass interlayer and connected to the vehicle's receiver unit via a connector embedded in the glass edge. This design offers a cleaner aesthetic, reduces wind noise, and eliminates the vulnerability of a protruding mast to damage or theft.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's roof — if there is no visible aerial mast, your car likely has a laminated antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre whether your windscreen or rear window carries an antenna print. The connector may be visible on the glass edge or inside the door frame trim.

    Replacement impact

When replacing glass with a laminated antenna, the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector to restore reception immediately on fitting. Aftermarket or original-equipment glass with the correct antenna specification is essential; a plain replacement will leave you without radio or DAB signal. Our fitters verify the antenna specification during booking and source the correct variant before the appointment.

  • Heated Windscreen3
    2016–2026

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 3 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2016–2026.

    What it means

An embedded mesh of thin wires that heat the windscreen to clear frost and condensation quickly in winter conditions.

    On your Volkswagen Multivan

Optional on some Multivan trims from the mid-2010s onwards — confirmed when you provide your variant details.

  • Camera2
    2021–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 2 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (11%); model years 2021–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

A camera mounted near the rear-view mirror monitors the road ahead for lane-keep and traffic-sign features.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera positioned in the windscreen header area (typically mounted on or near the rear-view mirror bracket) captures video of the road ahead. This camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition. The camera is a core component of modern ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and requires precise alignment after windscreen replacement to ensure these safety features function correctly.

    How to tell

Look for a small dark triangular or lens-shaped component mounted in the black plastic trim area above the windscreen, typically centred near the rear-view mirror or slightly to one side. Your vehicle's handbook or infotainment menu may reference 'Lane Assist', 'Traffic Sign Recognition', or 'Autonomous Emergency Braking'. Ask your dealer or service centre directly if your car is equipped with a forward-facing camera system.

    Replacement impact

Windscreen replacement on camera-equipped vehicles requires calibration of the camera system after the new glass is fitted. The exact calibration procedure—whether static (using a target board in a controlled environment) or dynamic (road-based)—varies by vehicle make, model, and year. We confirm the precise calibration requirement when we look up your specific vehicle. Calibration ensures lane-keep, sign recognition, and emergency-braking systems function safely. This may extend the fitting schedule and may necessitate workshop-based fitting rather than mobile attendance.

  • Bracket For Safety Features1
    2021–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 1 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (6%); model years 2021–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

On the Volkswagen Multivan: fitted on 1 of the 18 windscreen variants we list (6%); model years 2022–2026; static calibration required.

    What it means

After windscreen replacement, the camera is realigned using printed targets and diagnostic tools in a workshop environment to restore full ADAS accuracy.

    On your Volkswagen Multivan

Required on camera-equipped Multivans — if your variant has a mono camera, static calibration is part of the job at no extra drive-away delay.

About the Volkswagen Multivan

The Volkswagen Multivan has been a mainstay of the MPV market since its introduction, combining practicality with refined comfort for family and business users alike.

From 2015 onwards, all Multivans in our catalogue feature acoustic windscreens and rain sensors as standard, reducing road noise and automating wiper activation in wet conditions. Most variants also carry a VIN notch along the bottom edge of the windscreen for chassis identification.

Some later Multivans introduced heated windscreens and a mono camera system for driver assistance, with static calibration required after replacement on those equipped variants. This means the technician completes the job at a workshop rather than at your address, ensuring the camera alignment meets Volkswagen's safety specifications.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Static camera calibration requires printed target boards positioned at precise distances in front of the vehicle — something that can't be reliably done safely on a driveway. A workshop environment ensures the camera is aligned to Volkswagen's exact specification, which is critical for lane-keeping, adaptive cruise, and collision-avoidance functions.

UK Car Glass schedules the entire job (glass replacement plus calibration) at the workshop as one visit, so you're not juggling multiple appointments. Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't add to your drive-away wait.

All models in our catalogue from 2015 onwards share acoustic and rain-sensor as standard, plus the VIN notch. However, heated windscreens and camera systems appeared on later or higher-spec variants, so specifications do vary.

That's why we ask about your model and features during the quote — it ensures your replacement exactly matches your factory specification.

Non-camera Multivans typically take 45–90 minutes of the fitter's hands-on time, depending on the vehicle's condition and any trim complexity. Camera-equipped variants take longer because static calibration is completed after the glass is set.

Your fitter will confirm the specific drive-away time before finishing — adhesive cure runs in the background, and calibration doesn't extend that timeline.
