Volkswagen ID.3 windscreen price, by year

Price variation on ID.3 windscreen replacement is minimal across the active range, as all variants share the same advanced ADAS and camera specification. The primary cost driver is the requirement for static camera calibration after fitting, which is standard across all ID.3 models. Acoustic glass is fitted as standard, so there's no trim-related glass variation affecting cost.

NEVER STRIM NEAR YOUR CAR

I broke my front passenger window strimming the edge of my front lawn, when the strimmer shot a stone towards my car. Although I had cover I thought I might find out how much it might be. An online search brought up UK Car Glass and the price was £295, reasonable I thought. The only other site that was thrown up and did windows other that a front screen was Autoglass and I had to ring up to get a price. I asked the agent to give me a non-insured figure and his response was a little shocking. He got as far as "One Thousand" when I cut in with "WHAT!" "You must be mad." He did offer a discount, but it wouln't be anywhere near the price from UK Car Glass. I told him to forget it and booked my appointment with UK Car Glass for the next day. I was not there when the work was done, but I inspected my vehicle on my return home and was pleased with what I found. I will never use Autoglass again, although it is 30 years since my last window replacement, so I will probably be dead, before I need another.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Volkswagen ID.3 windscreen replacement

Booking and fitting your ID.3 windscreen through UKCG is a straightforward process from quote to road-ready.

  1. 1

Complete the online quote in under 60 seconds using our guided widget — no registration number needed, just a few details about your ID.3 variant.

  2. 2

We confirm your glass specification during a quick parts check after booking, ensuring it matches your exact factory setup including camera brackets and sensor zones.

  3. 3

You're matched with a local, approved fitter in your area who'll handle the replacement and calibration.

  4. 4

On fitting day, the technician replaces your windscreen, and then performs static camera calibration indoors at a workshop to confirm the forward-facing camera is correctly aligned.

  5. 5

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before you leave — calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your wait.

Your replacement is covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your ID.3?

All ID.3 windscreen replacements require a workshop visit because static camera calibration is mandatory for safety. The technician will fit the windscreen and then perform calibration indoors using target boards, a process that cannot be done on a driveway. This is scheduled as a single job at one location — no split between mobile replacement and later calibration.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

A single camera mounted near the rear-view mirror that helps with lane-keeping and collision avoidance.

    What it means

A mono camera is a single-lens camera positioned behind the windscreen, typically in the upper centre area near the rear-view mirror. It captures the road ahead and uses computer vision to detect lane markings, vehicles, and road hazards. The camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. It forms the visual foundation of these safety features, allowing the vehicle to monitor road position and surrounding traffic automatically.

    How to tell

Look in the black trim area above the windscreen, centred behind the rear-view mirror — you will see a small triangular lens assembly or dark lens cover. Check your vehicle handbook or ask your dealer's service department to confirm your model has lane-assistance or collision-warning features; vehicles with these systems almost always have a mono camera. Dashboard warning symbols related to lane or collision systems also indicate the presence of this camera.

    Replacement impact

When the windscreen is replaced, the camera bracket and lens assembly must be removed and carefully repositioned on the new glass. The camera may require calibration after fitting to ensure accurate road detection and lane recognition. Calibration needs vary by vehicle — we confirm the exact procedure when we look up your specific vehicle. The job may take longer than a standard windscreen replacement, and workshop facilities may be required if calibration demands a controlled environment.

  • Sensor Heated Zone2
    2020–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Volkswagen ID.3: fitted on every one of the 2 windscreen variants we list; model years 2020–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Heated zones around sensors prevent frost and moisture buildup, helping your safety systems work reliably.

    What it means

A sensor heated zone is an electrical heating element integrated into or around camera, radar, or sensor mounts on the windscreen. Its purpose is to prevent frost, ice, condensation, and moisture accumulation on sensor lenses and housings. This keeps safety systems — such as lane-keeping assist, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control — functioning accurately in cold, wet, or foggy conditions. Without this heating, moisture or ice can obscure sensors and cause them to malfunction or deactivate.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook for mention of 'heated sensor zone' or 'sensor heating' in the windscreen or ADAS section. Look at the top edge of your windscreen where cameras or radar modules are mounted — you may see small heating elements or wiring near these components. Ask your dealership or service centre directly: they can confirm whether your specific model includes sensor heating as standard.

    Replacement impact

Windscreens with heated sensor zones require careful handling during replacement to preserve the heating element and its electrical connections. The heating circuit must be reconnected properly after the new glass is fitted. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve static or dynamic camera calibration after installation. We confirm the exact procedure — including any calibration needs — when we look up your vehicle details.

Calibration mix across our Volkswagen variants

    • 1Static

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Static Camera Calibration Process2
    2020–2026Static calibration required

On the Volkswagen ID.3: fitted on every one of the 2 windscreen variants we list; model years 2020–2026; static calibration required.

    What it means

After replacement, the camera is recalibrated indoors with target boards to ensure lane-keeping and collision-avoidance systems work safely.

    On your Volkswagen ID.3

Required on every ID.3 model; your fitter will schedule calibration as part of the replacement job at a workshop.

  • Vin Notch2
    2020–2026

On the Volkswagen ID.3: fitted on every one of the 2 windscreen variants we list; model years 2020–2026.

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

  • HUD - Head Up Display1
    2020–2026No calibration after replacement

On the Volkswagen ID.3: fitted on 1 of the 2 windscreen variants we list (50%); model years 2020–2026; no calibration after replacement.

    What it means

Speed and navigation information projected onto the windscreen visible to the driver.

    On your Volkswagen ID.3

Fitted on higher-trim ID.3 variants; confirmed during your quote if your model includes this feature.

About the Volkswagen ID.3

The Volkswagen ID.3 is VW's fully electric compact hatchback, launched in 2020 and built on the dedicated MEB battery platform. All ID.3 variants come equipped with advanced driver assistance systems from the outset, making ADAS-ready glass and camera calibration standard across the range.

Every ID.3 windscreen features a laminated construction with acoustic interlayer, integrated rain sensor, and a forward-facing mono camera bracket mounted behind the glass near the rear-view mirror. The glass also includes a sensor heated zone to prevent condensation affecting the camera and sensor cluster.

Static camera calibration is required after replacement on every ID.3 variant, as the forward-facing camera is integral to the vehicle's autonomous features and lane-keeping assistance. Your replacement glass will match your original specification and include all these safety features.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Every ID.3 comes with a forward-facing camera integral to lane-keeping assist and emergency braking. After replacement, static calibration must be completed indoors with precision target boards at manufacturer-specified distances. This cannot be done safely on a driveway or in variable outdoor conditions.

UKCG schedules the windscreen replacement and calibration as one workshop visit to ensure the camera is correctly aligned before you drive. Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't add extra time — your fitter will confirm when you can drive away.

Yes. All current-generation ID.3 windscreens carry a subtle green tint as factory standard. This tint reduces solar heat and glare while maintaining visibility. Your replacement will match this specification exactly.

Acoustic laminated glass is standard across all ID.3 variants, so your replacement will include it. This reduces cabin noise from the road and wind, improving the quiet driving experience that EV owners typically expect.

If your model includes a Head-Up Display projecting speed or navigation onto the windscreen, this is integrated into the glass specification and confirmed during your quote. Your replacement will include the necessary optical layering to support the HUD.

The technician will ensure calibration accounts for the HUD system so the display remains sharp and accurately positioned after fitting.
