Volkswagen ID. Buzz windscreen price, by year

Price variation is minimal across ID. Buzz variants since the model range is compact and all variants carry the same camera and acoustic systems. The primary cost driver is calibration complexity — the forward-facing camera system must be recalibrated after replacement to restore lane-keeping and adaptive cruise accuracy.

Year Price range Quote
2026 £904 — £904 Price my 2026
2025 £904 — £904 Price my 2025

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your ID. Buzz?

All ID. Buzz windscreen replacements require static camera calibration after the glass is fitted. This calibration must be performed in a controlled workshop environment using calibration target boards to ensure lane-keeping and adaptive cruise functions operate safely and accurately.

Your specialist will schedule the replacement and calibration as a single appointment at a workshop. The glass replacement and calibration run in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time — your fitter will confirm when the car is ready to drive.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

    2022–2026No calibration after replacement

On the Volkswagen ID. Buzz: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2022–2026; no calibration after replacement.

Your wipers automatically activate when rain falls on the windscreen.

    What it means

A rain sensor is a device mounted on or behind the windscreen that detects moisture and triggers the wiper system automatically. The sensor uses infrared light to measure water droplets on the glass surface and signals the vehicle's electrical system to engage the wipers without driver input. This feature improves safety in sudden downpours and reduces driver workload in variable weather conditions.

    How to tell

Check your windscreen for a small sensor unit, usually mounted near the top centre behind the glass or at the base of the mirror. Look for a small dark component or lens. If your vehicle has automatic wipers that activate without you toggling the stalk, you have a rain sensor. Ask your dealer or service centre to confirm; they can check your vehicle records or wiper module settings.

    Replacement impact

Rain sensors are non-structural elements and do not require recalibration after windscreen replacement. The sensor bracket or mounting may need careful removal and reinstallation to ensure it sits correctly behind the new glass. If the sensor itself is damaged during removal, a replacement unit may be needed. Your fitter will confirm the condition and refit or replace the sensor as part of the standard replacement procedure.

  • Vin Notch1
    2022–2026

On the Volkswagen ID. Buzz: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2022–2026.

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

About the Volkswagen ID. Buzz

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz launched in 2022 as VW's electric reinterpretation of the classic camper van, bringing modern electric powertrain technology and contemporary safety systems to a new generation of owners.

From launch, all ID. Buzz models are equipped with advanced driver-assistance features including a forward-facing camera system mounted behind the windscreen. This camera supports lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control, making the windscreen a safety-critical component.

Every ID. Buzz windscreen features acoustic noise-reduction interlayers, a green-tinted solar control coating, and a defogging sensor near the rear-view mirror. Replacement requires camera recalibration after fitting to maintain ADAS performance.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

No — the camera bracket is preserved during replacement. After the new windscreen is fitted, static calibration restores the camera's precise alignment so lane-keeping and adaptive cruise work exactly as before. The calibration is part of the job and is included in your quote.

Yes. Every ID. Buzz from 2022 onwards comes with a green-tinted, noise-reducing windscreen as standard. This is true across the entire range, so your replacement will match your original specification exactly.

The technician's active time is typically longer than a standard windscreen fit because calibration is completed after the glass is set. Wall-clock time varies by variant, but the job usually completes within a couple of hours. Your fitter will confirm the expected duration when they contact you to arrange the appointment.

If you choose mobile fitting, the technician comes to you and the job is completed on-site. However, because calibration is required, you may be matched with a workshop appointment instead — this ensures the calibration is done in a controlled environment. Either way, the job typically completes the same day.
