Volkswagen e-Up! windscreen price, by year

Pricing for e-Up! windscreen replacement varies based on the specific features integrated into your glass — the heated element, solar control, encapsulated gasket, and camera bracket all factor into the final cost. Because this model has been consistent in its specification since 2019, variation is minimal across the range. The main cost driver is the camera calibration work required after fitting, which is standard across all variants.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

  4. 4

  5. 5

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your e-Up!?

All e-Up! windscreen replacements require workshop fitting because camera calibration is essential for your driver assistance systems to function correctly and safely. Your technician will fit the windscreen and complete the static camera calibration in a controlled workshop environment to ensure precise alignment.

This means the entire job — replacement and calibration — is scheduled at one location. Calibration runs in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend the time before you can drive away.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

    2019–2024Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Volkswagen e-Up!: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2019–2024; calibration varies by vehicle.

A single camera mounted near the rear-view mirror that helps with lane-keeping and collision avoidance.

    What it means

A mono camera is a single-lens camera positioned behind the windscreen, typically in the upper centre area near the rear-view mirror. It captures the road ahead and uses computer vision to detect lane markings, vehicles, and road hazards. The camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. It forms the visual foundation of these safety features, allowing the vehicle to monitor road position and surrounding traffic automatically.

    How to tell

Look in the black trim area above the windscreen, centred behind the rear-view mirror — you will see a small triangular lens assembly or dark lens cover. Check your vehicle handbook or ask your dealer's service department to confirm your model has lane-assistance or collision-warning features; vehicles with these systems almost always have a mono camera. Dashboard warning symbols related to lane or collision systems also indicate the presence of this camera.

    Replacement impact

When the windscreen is replaced, the camera bracket and lens assembly must be removed and carefully repositioned on the new glass. The camera may require calibration after fitting to ensure accurate road detection and lane recognition. Calibration needs vary by vehicle — we confirm the exact procedure when we look up your specific vehicle. The job may take longer than a standard windscreen replacement, and workshop facilities may be required if calibration demands a controlled environment.

  • Rain Sensor1
    2019–2024No calibration after replacement

On the Volkswagen e-Up!: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2019–2024; no calibration after replacement.

Your wipers automatically activate when rain falls on the windscreen.

    What it means

A rain sensor is a device mounted on or behind the windscreen that detects moisture and triggers the wiper system automatically. The sensor uses infrared light to measure water droplets on the glass surface and signals the vehicle's electrical system to engage the wipers without driver input. This feature improves safety in sudden downpours and reduces driver workload in variable weather conditions.

    How to tell

Check your windscreen for a small sensor unit, usually mounted near the top centre behind the glass or at the base of the mirror. Look for a small dark component or lens. If your vehicle has automatic wipers that activate without you toggling the stalk, you have a rain sensor. Ask your dealer or service centre to confirm; they can check your vehicle records or wiper module settings.

    Replacement impact

Rain sensors are non-structural elements and do not require recalibration after windscreen replacement. The sensor bracket or mounting may need careful removal and reinstallation to ensure it sits correctly behind the new glass. If the sensor itself is damaged during removal, a replacement unit may be needed. Your fitter will confirm the condition and refit or replace the sensor as part of the standard replacement procedure.

  • Solar Control1
    2019–2024

On the Volkswagen e-Up!: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2019–2024.

    What it means

A special coating that absorbs the sun's infrared rays, reducing cabin heat and improving air-conditioning efficiency — particularly valuable in an electric vehicle.

    On your Volkswagen e-Up!

Fitted to all e-Up! variants as standard; the tint is subtle but provides measurable thermal benefits.

  • Vin Notch1
    2019–2024

On the Volkswagen e-Up!: fitted on every one of the 1 windscreen variant we list; model years 2019–2024.

    What it means

A small box or notch embossed along the bottom edge of the windscreen that displays the vehicle identification number (VIN) or chassis number.

    On your Volkswagen e-Up!

Standard on all e-Up! windscreens from 2019 onwards; visible as a slight indentation at the bottom of the glass.

About the Volkswagen e-Up!

The Volkswagen e-Up! has been in production since 2019 as VW's compact electric city car, designed for urban commuters and short-range daily driving. All e-Up! models from 2019 onwards come equipped with a camera-mounted windscreen to support the vehicle's driver assistance systems, along with a heated windscreen as standard.

Green-tinted glass with solar-control properties is fitted across the range to manage cabin heat in sunny conditions — particularly beneficial in an electric vehicle where heat pump systems work more efficiently with reduced solar load. The windscreen features encapsulation (a pre-bonded rubber gasket) and a VIN notch along the bottom, which are integral to the modern design of this model.

Camera calibration is required after replacement on all e-Up! models due to the integrated safety systems. This means the fitting is typically completed at a workshop to ensure the camera is properly aligned for continued driver assistance functionality.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

The e-Up! is fitted with a forward-facing camera for driver assistance features like lane-keeping support and adaptive cruise control. After windscreen replacement, this camera must be calibrated to ensure it's correctly aligned and your safety systems work reliably. Calibration requires a workshop environment with proper setup and diagnostic equipment.

To keep you safe and maintain accountability, we schedule the replacement and calibration at the same location rather than splitting them across two visits.

Yes, your fitter will carefully remove the camera bracket trim (the moulded cover around the camera) from your old windscreen and transfer it to the replacement glass. If the trim is damaged or can't be safely transferred, a new one matching your specification will be supplied.

After the glass is fitted and the trim is in place, the camera calibration is completed to re-establish the precise alignment your driver assistance systems need.

Yes, the heated windscreen is standard on all e-Up! models from 2019 onwards, so your replacement will include the heating element as standard. The green tint and solar-control coating are also integral to the specification across the entire e-Up! range.

Your technician will take longer than a standard windscreen replacement because static camera calibration is completed after the glass is set. The exact time varies depending on the specific calibration required for your model and the workshop's equipment, but your fitter will confirm the total duration on the day.

The good news is that calibration runs in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't delay when you can drive away — your fitter will confirm the drive-away time before you leave.
