Volkswagen e-Golf windscreen price, by year

Replacement costs vary primarily between earlier e-Golfs without camera systems and later variants equipped with forward-facing ADAS cameras. Camera-equipped models require static calibration after the windscreen is fitted, which extends the technician's time on site but does not delay your drive-away.

All e-Golf windscreens share the same heated and rain-sensor features, so variation is driven mainly by the presence or absence of the camera bracket and calibration need.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Volkswagen e-Golf windscreen replacement

Booking a windscreen replacement for your e-Golf is straightforward and takes just a few minutes online.

  1. 1

Answer a quick quiz about your e-Golf's year and equipment — the system identifies your exact variant in seconds.

  2. 2

Review the instant quote and choose your fitting location: mobile at home or at a workshop near you.

  3. 3

Complete your booking online. A parts check confirms your glass specification matches your vehicle.

  4. 4

Your matched fitter arrives on the day, removes the damaged windscreen, and fits the replacement with its pre-bonded encapsulated trim.

  5. 5

If your e-Golf has a camera bracket, static calibration is completed after the glass is set — this runs alongside adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the minimum drive-away time before leaving, and you're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

All e-Golf replacements are handled by specialists on our network, and every job is backed by our two-year guarantee.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your e-Golf?

Most e-Golf windscreen replacements can be fitted at your home or workplace using our mobile service. However, if your e-Golf is equipped with a forward-facing camera for driver-assistance features, static calibration must be completed at a workshop after the glass is fitted, using printed target boards positioned at precise distances and heights.

For camera-equipped models, your entire booking (replacement and calibration) is scheduled at a workshop location to ensure calibration is completed in one session. The fitter confirms the location with you at booking.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Vin Notch3
    2014–2020

On the Volkswagen e-Golf: fitted on every one of the 3 windscreen variants we list; model years 2014–2020.

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

  • Bracket For Safety Features1
    2016–2020Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Volkswagen e-Golf: fitted on 1 of the 3 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2016–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

On the Volkswagen e-Golf: fitted on 1 of the 3 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2016–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A forward-facing single camera mounted behind the windscreen, typically in the black field near the rear-view mirror, that powers driver-assistance features like lane keeping and adaptive cruise.

    On your Volkswagen e-Golf

Present on some later e-Golf models (typically 2019–2020 variants with higher specification packs) — your quote will confirm if your car has one.

Heated zones around sensors prevent frost and moisture buildup, helping your safety systems work reliably.

    What it means

A sensor heated zone is an electrical heating element integrated into or around camera, radar, or sensor mounts on the windscreen. Its purpose is to prevent frost, ice, condensation, and moisture accumulation on sensor lenses and housings. This keeps safety systems — such as lane-keeping assist, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control — functioning accurately in cold, wet, or foggy conditions. Without this heating, moisture or ice can obscure sensors and cause them to malfunction or deactivate.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook for mention of 'heated sensor zone' or 'sensor heating' in the windscreen or ADAS section. Look at the top edge of your windscreen where cameras or radar modules are mounted — you may see small heating elements or wiring near these components. Ask your dealership or service centre directly: they can confirm whether your specific model includes sensor heating as standard.

    Replacement impact

Windscreens with heated sensor zones require careful handling during replacement to preserve the heating element and its electrical connections. The heating circuit must be reconnected properly after the new glass is fitted. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve static or dynamic camera calibration after installation. We confirm the exact procedure — including any calibration needs — when we look up your vehicle details.

  • Static Camera Calibration Process1
    2016–2020Static calibration required

On the Volkswagen e-Golf: fitted on 1 of the 3 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2016–2020; static calibration required.

    What it means

After windscreen replacement on camera-equipped models, static calibration aligns the forward camera using printed target boards in a controlled environment, ensuring driver-assistance systems function safely.

    On your Volkswagen e-Golf

Required only on e-Golf variants fitted with a forward-facing camera — the quote process identifies this, and your fitter completes calibration at the workshop after fitting.

About the Volkswagen e-Golf

The Volkswagen e-Golf has been in continuous production from 2014 to 2020, bringing electric drivetrain technology to the familiar Golf platform. All e-Golf windscreens feature green-tinted laminated glass with encapsulation — the rubber gasket is pre-bonded at the factory so the trim arrives as part of the glass unit.

From launch onwards, e-Golf windscreens also include heated glass with rain sensors and solar-control coating to manage cabin temperature in the electric model's efficiency-focused design. A small percentage of later e-Golf variants introduced a forward-facing camera bracket behind the windscreen to support driver-assistance systems, which triggers static camera calibration after fitting.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Only some later e-Golf variants (typically 2019–2020 models with higher specification packs) are fitted with a forward-facing camera for lane-keeping and adaptive cruise systems. Your online quote will confirm whether your specific e-Golf has one — you don't need to self-inspect.

After your windscreen is fitted, the fitter performs static calibration using target boards in a workshop. This aligns the camera to manufacturer specification so driver-assistance features work correctly.

Calibration runs in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time — your fitter confirms the specific wait time before you leave.

All e-Golf windscreens from 2014–2020 share the same core features: green-tinted laminated glass with heating, rain sensor, solar-control coating, and encapsulated trim. The only difference is whether a camera bracket and calibration are needed, which depends on your model's specification.

Your replacement is covered by a two-year warranty on the glass quality and the fit itself. This covers any issues with the windscreen bond, seal, or workmanship. If a problem arises, contact UKCG with photos and documentation, and we'll arrange an inspection — usually at a workshop so we can properly assess the issue.
