Mercedes A Class windscreen price, by year

Price variation across A-Class variants is driven primarily by generation and ADAS equipment. Older models without windscreen cameras are typically the most affordable to replace. Newer variants with Driver Assistance systems carry higher costs due to mandatory post-replacement camera calibration, which requires a workshop environment and specialist Mercedes-Benz diagnostic tools.

Additionally, acoustic glass and solar-control coatings, available on select trims, add to the material cost compared to standard variants.

Year Price range Quote

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Mercedes A Class windscreen replacement

Booking your Mercedes-Benz A-Class windscreen replacement is straightforward — here's what happens from start to finish.

  1. 1

You answer a quick quiz about your A-Class variant (year, features, trim) in under 60 seconds, and receive an instant quote.

  2. 2

Once you book, our parts check team confirms the exact glass specification matches your car — including any camera brackets, sensors, or acoustic layers.

  3. 3

We match you with a trusted local technician experienced with Mercedes windscreen work. If your A-Class has a camera system, we'll schedule the job at a workshop so static calibration can be completed after fitting.

  4. 4

On the day of fitting, your technician removes the old windscreen, cleans the frame, and bonds the new glass using factory-approved adhesive. If calibration is needed, it runs in parallel with adhesive cure — you're not delayed by it.

  5. 5

Your fitter confirms the minimum drive-away time before you leave, typically after a couple of hours. Any camera calibration is complete and tested before handover.

  6. 6

You're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality; if any concerns arise, contact us and we'll arrange an inspection.

From quote to booked and fitted, the whole process is designed to be quick, transparent, and handled by specialists who understand Mercedes-Benz glass requirements.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your A Class?

Most A-Class windscreen replacements can be fitted at your home or workplace by mobile appointment. However, if your A-Class includes a forward-facing camera for driver assistance (lane-keeping, sign recognition), the job must take place at a workshop so our specialist can perform static camera calibration after fitting — a guided process using diagnostic equipment indoors.

We don't split jobs across locations, so if calibration is needed, the entire replacement and calibration happens at one workshop visit. Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't add extra time before you can drive away.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

    2012–2026Static calibration required

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 6 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (27%); model years 2012–2026; static calibration required.

Static calibration uses printed targets indoors to align your forward-facing camera after windscreen replacement.

    What it means

Static camera calibration is a procedure in which a forward-facing camera system is realigned using printed target boards positioned at manufacturer-specified distances and heights in front of the vehicle. The vehicle remains stationary indoors throughout. A diagnostic tool reads the camera's view of these targets and adjusts the camera's alignment to factory specification. This ensures the camera can accurately detect road features, lane markings, pedestrians, and other objects — critical for driver-assistance systems like lane-keeping, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control to function safely and reliably.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer's service centre whether your car has a forward-facing camera system that requires calibration after windscreen replacement. Look for driver-assistance features like lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, or adaptive cruise control on the dashboard menu.

    Replacement impact

When a windscreen with an integrated or bracket-mounted camera is replaced, the camera's alignment can shift. Static calibration realigns the camera using indoor target boards, which must be performed in a workshop environment where printed targets can be positioned and secured at precise distances. This procedure is conducted after the windscreen is fitted and bonded. The workshop booking accommodates the additional time required for calibration, and we apply the no-split policy — both replacement and calibration happen at the same location on the same visit.

Dual cameras mounted near the rear-view mirror provide advanced driver-assistance features like collision avoidance and lane-keeping.

    What it means

A stereo camera is a pair of cameras mounted in the upper windscreen area, typically embedded in or near the rear-view mirror housing. These cameras work together to capture depth information, allowing the vehicle's safety and driver-assistance systems to detect obstacles, measure distances, recognise lane markings, and monitor road signs. Stereo cameras are central to modern collision-avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and pedestrian-detection systems. Unlike single cameras, the dual-lens setup provides three-dimensional awareness, enabling more accurate decision-making by the vehicle's control modules.

    How to tell

Look in the dark area of the windscreen near the top, directly above or slightly offset from the rear-view mirror. You will see two small lens housings — typically circular or oval — separated by a small gap. Some vehicles display a camera symbol on the dashboard or in the instrument cluster when the system is active. Your vehicle's handbook or service centre can confirm the presence and type of camera system if you're uncertain.

    Replacement impact

Stereo cameras are bracket-mounted to the windscreen frame and require careful removal and reinstallation during replacement. The camera alignment is critical for safe operation — even small deviations can impair collision detection and lane-keeping accuracy. After windscreen replacement, your vehicle's camera system may require static or dynamic calibration depending on the specific make and model. We confirm the exact calibration procedure and schedule when we look up your vehicle. Calibration ensures the dual lenses are precisely aligned and the depth-sensing algorithms function correctly.

  • Antenna3
    2012–2026

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 3 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (14%); model years 2012–2026.

An aerial laminated into the windscreen or rear window restores radio, DAB or TV reception without a roof-mounted mast.

    What it means

An antenna is a conductive print laminated into the glass during manufacture, typically used for radio, DAB (digital audio broadcasting) or television reception. It replaces the traditional roof-mounted aerial mast found on older vehicles. The antenna is integrated into the glass interlayer and connected to the vehicle's receiver unit via a connector embedded in the glass edge. This design offers a cleaner aesthetic, reduces wind noise, and eliminates the vulnerability of a protruding mast to damage or theft.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's roof — if there is no visible aerial mast, your car likely has a laminated antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre whether your windscreen or rear window carries an antenna print. The connector may be visible on the glass edge or inside the door frame trim.

    Replacement impact

When replacing glass with a laminated antenna, the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector to restore reception immediately on fitting. Aftermarket or original-equipment glass with the correct antenna specification is essential; a plain replacement will leave you without radio or DAB signal. Our fitters verify the antenna specification during booking and source the correct variant before the appointment.

  • Blue Sun Strip3
    1998–2012

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 3 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (14%); model years 1998–2012.

A blue-tinted gradient band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare without affecting your view of the road.

    What it means

A blue sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the upper edge of your windscreen's laminate layer. It reduces glare from sunlight reflecting off the road and bonnet without darkening your main field of vision. The tint is created during manufacture as part of the glass laminate itself — it cannot be added or removed later. Sun strips are a windscreen-only feature; rear and side windows cannot carry this effect because they use tempered rather than laminated glass.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the car — you'll see a distinct blue-tinted band running horizontally across the upper portion. Check your vehicle's specification sheet or ask your dealership service centre whether your windscreen is listed as a 'blue sun strip' or 'tinted sun strip' variant. Your invoice or parts manual will confirm it.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a blue sun strip, the replacement must be the sun-strip variant — a standard plain windscreen will not replicate the tinted band. Your replacement glass is sourced as an exact match to your original specification. There are no additional calibration or cure implications beyond a standard windscreen replacement. Fitting and drive-away times remain unchanged.

  • Camera3
    2012–2020Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 3 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (14%); model years 2012–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

A camera mounted near the rear-view mirror monitors the road ahead for lane-keep and traffic-sign features.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera positioned in the windscreen header area (typically mounted on or near the rear-view mirror bracket) captures video of the road ahead. This camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition. The camera is a core component of modern ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and requires precise alignment after windscreen replacement to ensure these safety features function correctly.

    How to tell

Look for a small dark triangular or lens-shaped component mounted in the black plastic trim area above the windscreen, typically centred near the rear-view mirror or slightly to one side. Your vehicle's handbook or infotainment menu may reference 'Lane Assist', 'Traffic Sign Recognition', or 'Autonomous Emergency Braking'. Ask your dealer or service centre directly if your car is equipped with a forward-facing camera system.

    Replacement impact

Windscreen replacement on camera-equipped vehicles requires calibration of the camera system after the new glass is fitted. The exact calibration procedure—whether static (using a target board in a controlled environment) or dynamic (road-based)—varies by vehicle make, model, and year. We confirm the precise calibration requirement when we look up your specific vehicle. Calibration ensures lane-keep, sign recognition, and emergency-braking systems function safely. This may extend the fitting schedule and may necessitate workshop-based fitting rather than mobile attendance.

  • HUD - Head Up Display2
    2018–2026No calibration after replacement

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 2 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (9%); model years 2018–2026; no calibration after replacement.

A Head-Up Display projects your speed, navigation cues and key alerts onto the windscreen so you can read them without looking down.

    What it means

A Head-Up Display (HUD) projects driving information — speed, navigation cues, ADAS alerts — onto the windscreen in your line of sight, so you can read it without taking your eyes off the road. The projector is mounted in the dashboard and shines the image upwards onto a special HUD-compatible windscreen that uses a wedge-shaped laminate to prevent a ghost image. Common on premium and sports models, increasingly standard on mid-range cars from the 2020s onwards.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or handbook under 'display features' or 'HUD'. Look for a small projector unit mounted on the dashboard, typically below the steering wheel or in the instrument cluster area. When you start the vehicle, a bright image should appear on the lower windscreen area. Your dealer's service centre can confirm whether your specific model and trim level includes a HUD.

    Replacement impact

Your replacement windscreen needs to be HUD-compatible — built with the correct wedge laminate so the projected image stays sharp and double-free. Once the HUD-compatible glass is fitted, the projector itself typically doesn't need recalibration: image position is user-adjustable via your dashboard controls. We confirm your vehicle uses the HUD-compatible windscreen variant when ordering, so the replacement matches the original.

  • Sensor Heated Zone2
    2012–2020Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 2 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (9%); model years 2012–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

Heated zones around sensors prevent frost and moisture buildup, helping your safety systems work reliably.

    What it means

A sensor heated zone is an electrical heating element integrated into or around camera, radar, or sensor mounts on the windscreen. Its purpose is to prevent frost, ice, condensation, and moisture accumulation on sensor lenses and housings. This keeps safety systems — such as lane-keeping assist, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control — functioning accurately in cold, wet, or foggy conditions. Without this heating, moisture or ice can obscure sensors and cause them to malfunction or deactivate.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook for mention of 'heated sensor zone' or 'sensor heating' in the windscreen or ADAS section. Look at the top edge of your windscreen where cameras or radar modules are mounted — you may see small heating elements or wiring near these components. Ask your dealership or service centre directly: they can confirm whether your specific model includes sensor heating as standard.

    Replacement impact

Windscreens with heated sensor zones require careful handling during replacement to preserve the heating element and its electrical connections. The heating circuit must be reconnected properly after the new glass is fitted. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve static or dynamic camera calibration after installation. We confirm the exact procedure — including any calibration needs — when we look up your vehicle details.

  • Light Sensor1
    2004–2012

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 1 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (5%); model years 2004–2012.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • TV Antenna1
    2018–2026

On the Mercedes A Class: fitted on 1 of the 22 windscreen variants we list (5%); model years 2018–2026.

A TV-reception aerial printed into the rear window, typically for in-car entertainment systems.

    What it means

A TV antenna is an aerial pattern laminated into the rear windscreen or rear side window to receive broadcast television signals. It's a separate system from the vehicle's radio or mobile antenna and is typically found in vehicles equipped with rear-seat entertainment systems. The antenna is printed directly onto or into the glass during manufacture, so when the glass is replaced, the antenna pattern must be reproduced on the replacement to maintain reception quality.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or handbook for rear-seat entertainment or TV tuner capability. If your car has a rear-seat entertainment system with a TV tuner, the rear window will have a TV antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre to confirm whether your vehicle has this feature.

    Replacement impact

When the rear window is replaced, the replacement glass must include the matching TV antenna print to preserve reception. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) glass is typically required to ensure the antenna pattern is identical. The antenna is passive and requires no calibration or specialist procedures after fitting. Cure time for bonded rear glass is required; the fitter will confirm the drive-away time on the day.

About the Mercedes A Class

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class has been in continuous production since 1997, evolving through five generations with significant leaps in glass specification. Early models featured straightforward laminated windscreens, while later generations from the mid-2010s onwards introduced rain sensors, acoustic interlayers, and solar-control options as trim variants.

From approximately 2022 onwards, newer A-Class models began to include forward-facing camera systems as part of Mercedes-Benz's Driver Assistance Package — cameras mounted behind the windscreen for lane-keeping, sign recognition, and collision warning. These camera-equipped variants require specialist static calibration after windscreen replacement, a procedure carried out indoors at a workshop with diagnostic equipment.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

If your model is equipped with a forward-facing camera (typically 2022+), yes — static camera calibration is mandatory after windscreen replacement on all Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems. The process uses printed targets and a diagnostic tool to align the camera to factory specifications, ensuring lane-keeping and collision warning systems work correctly.

Calibration is performed indoors at a workshop and takes place after the glass is fitted and adhesive begins to cure. It's a safety-critical procedure and is factored into the workshop appointment time.

Your specialist handles these as part of the standard fit. Rain sensors are pre-bonded into the glass and transfer seamlessly to the replacement. Camera brackets sit above the rearview mirror — the trim cover is usually transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied integrated with the replacement depending on your variant.

Our parts check team confirms your exact configuration at booking, so the right glass and trim arrive together ready to fit.

If your A-Class does not have a camera or driver assistance system, mobile fitting at home is absolutely available. If you do have a camera system, the job must be workshop-based so that static calibration can be completed properly indoors after fitting.

We always match your booking to the most practical option for your variant — mobile where possible, workshop where calibration or other conditions require it.

These features are handled as part of your standard replacement — the parts check confirms whether your variant includes acoustic interlayers or solar coating, and the matching glass is supplied. No additional steps are required; the replacement process is the same as for standard glass, though material costs reflect the upgraded specification.
