Audi R8 windscreen price, by year

Pricing varies across R8 generations and equipment levels. Earlier first-generation models (2007–2015) without front camera systems are typically more affordable, whilst second-generation variants (2016+) with ADAS camera integration and calibration requirements incur higher costs due to the additional technician time and diagnostic work. Acoustic glass and solar-control coatings, fitted to many higher-spec R8s, also influence final pricing.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Audi R8 windscreen replacement

Booking your R8 windscreen replacement through UK Car Glass is straightforward — from instant quote to fitted glass in a few days.

  1. 1

Answer a short online quiz about your R8 (year, trim, and features) to get an instant quote — takes about a minute.

  2. 2

Choose your preferred date and technician from available options near you.

  3. 3

Our parts team confirms your exact glass specification and any ADAS camera requirements before the technician is dispatched.

  4. 4

Your technician arrives (typically mobile at your address, or at a workshop if calibration is needed) and fits the windscreen.

  5. 5

If your R8 has a front camera system, static calibration is completed as part of the service whilst the adhesive cures.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the minimum drive-away time before leaving; you're covered by our two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

The whole process from booking to car ready to drive typically completes within a couple of hours — times vary by location and calibration needs.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your R8?

Most R8 windscreen replacements can be fitted at your preferred location — home or workshop. However, second-generation R8s (2016+) equipped with the front camera system for Audi pre sense and active lane assist require static calibration after fitting.

If your R8 needs calibration, the entire job (replacement and calibration) is scheduled at a workshop to ensure the camera is properly aligned using target boards in a controlled environment. Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it does not extend your drive-away time — your technician confirms when the car is ready before you leave.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

About the Audi R8

The Audi R8 has been in continuous production since 2007, evolving through two distinct generations: the first-generation (2007–2015) and the second-generation (2016–2024). Earlier R8s carry laminated windscreens with integrated antennas and rain sensors, whilst the later generation introduced enhanced ADAS integration with camera-dependent systems.

From around 2016 onwards, the second-generation R8 features a front-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen to support Audi pre sense front, active lane assist, and traffic sign recognition. This means windscreen replacement on newer variants requires static camera calibration after fitting — a procedure carried out by the technician as part of the service.

Many R8s across both generations also feature acoustic laminated glass and solar-control coating as part of their premium specification, reducing cabin noise and managing solar heat gain.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

If your R8 is from 2016 onwards and has the front-facing ADAS camera system (Audi pre sense front, active lane assist, or traffic sign recognition), then yes — static camera calibration is required after fitting. The technician carries this out as part of the service using calibration targets in a workshop setting.

First-generation R8s (2007–2015) do not have this camera system, so no calibration is needed; these jobs are faster and can often be completed mobile at your address.

The first-generation R8 (2007–2015) features laminated windscreens with rain sensors and antennas but no front-facing ADAS camera. The second-generation (2016–2024) introduced the Audi pre sense camera system behind the windscreen, which requires static recalibration after replacement.

Both generations often carry premium options like acoustic glass for noise reduction and solar-control coatings for heat management, but these are more commonly specified on second-generation models. Pricing and fitting requirements differ accordingly.

Whilst a standard laminated windscreen is technically compatible, acoustic glass is specified on your R8 to reduce cabin noise and enhance refinement. Replacing acoustic with standard glass will noticeably increase road and engine noise inside the cabin. We recommend matching your factory acoustic specification at replacement to maintain the driving experience you're used to.

A non-ADAS R8 (first-generation, 2007–2015) typically takes 45–90 minutes of technician time, depending on the vehicle's condition. Second-generation R8s with ADAS camera systems take longer because static calibration is carried out after the glass is fitted.

The entire job wall-clock, including any calibration, typically completes within a couple of hours. Your technician confirms the exact drive-away time before leaving — calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it does not add extra waiting time.
