The Nissan Leaf has been in continuous production since 2011, evolving through three distinct generations. Early models (2011–2017) carry straightforward toughened rear glass, whilst later generations introduced tinted and privacy-glass options as trim upgrades.
From the early 2010s onwards, some Leaf variants feature green-tinted rear glass or privacy tinting to match higher-spec trim levels. A smaller proportion of the range also carries solar-control coating on the rear window to reduce cabin heat absorption.
The Leaf's windscreen-mounted camera system (part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility and ProPILOT Assist) means windscreen replacement requires calibration on equipped models, but rear-window replacement remains a straightforward fit without additional safety-system work.
