Mercedes GLE rear window price, by year

Pricing varies with the specific variant — whether the rear glass includes an integrated antenna and alarm wire significantly affects the part cost. Privacy-tinted glass variants also carry different pricing than standard clear tint.

Earlier GLE models without antenna or alarm-wire integration are typically more affordable; current models with these embedded systems reflect the added manufacturing complexity of the glass.

What to expect during your Mercedes GLE rear window replacement

Booking your rear-window replacement through UK Car Glass is a straightforward process — from instant quote to fitted.

  1. 1

Complete a short online quiz about your Mercedes GLE's year, trim, and features — takes about 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote tailored to your variant, including any antenna or alarm-wire fitment.

  3. 3

Proceed to checkout and select your preferred appointment date and location — mobile fitting at your address or a workshop near you.

  4. 4

Our parts check team confirms your exact glass specification (antenna integration, alarm wire, tint) before the fitter is assigned.

  5. 5

On the day, your fitter arrives with the matched glass, removes the shattered original, and bonds the new panel in place — typically 30–60 minutes. Small shards can remain in hard-to-reach places, so we recommend a professional interior valet afterwards for thorough detailing.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before you leave, and your two-year warranty begins immediately.

Every job is covered by our standard two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your GLE?

Most rear-window replacements are carried out mobile at your address — the fitter arrives with the matched glass and completes the job on site. There is no ADAS calibration required for rear-window replacement, so mobile fitting is straightforward.

Workshop visits may be preferred if weather is poor, your driveway offers limited access, or you prefer to drop the car off. Your choice at booking — either location works.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Antenna2
    2011–2026

On the Mercedes GLE: fitted on every one of the 2 rear window variants we list; model years 2011–2026.

    What it means

An aerial laminated into the glass for radio, DAB, or TV reception — the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector to restore reception when fitted.

    On your Mercedes GLE

Standard on current GLE models. Confirmed during your online quote based on your vehicle's year and trim — you'll see this detail in your quote summary.

  • Grey Privacy2
    2011–2026

On the Mercedes GLE: fitted on every one of the 2 rear window variants we list; model years 2011–2026.

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen2
    2011–2026

On the Mercedes GLE: fitted on every one of the 2 rear window variants we list; model years 2011–2026.

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

About the Mercedes GLE

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has been in production since 2015, evolving through two generations. Early models carry straightforward toughened rear glass, whilst later variants — particularly from the early 2020s onwards — feature integrated antenna elements and alarm-wire circuits laminated into the glass for reception and vehicle security systems.

Mercedes rear windows on current GLE models are available in privacy-tinted configurations, and some variants include an embedded alarm wire that forms part of the vehicle's anti-theft circuit. Replacement glass must match these specifications exactly so that reception and security systems function correctly when the new panel is bonded in.

Unlike windscreen replacement, rear-window jobs do not involve ADAS calibration — the GLE's camera systems are mounted behind the windscreen. However, shard cleanup is a significant part of the job, as the original glass arrives shattered, and small fragments can lodge in places fitters can't always reach on the day.
