Vauxhall Astra windscreen price, by year

Replacement costs vary primarily with generation and ADAS equipment presence. Earlier Astras without cameras represent the most affordable option, while newer variants with rain sensors, solar-control coatings, or driver-assistance systems carry higher calibration and glass complexity costs. Encapsulated windscreens — where the rubber trim is pre-bonded to the glass — also affect pricing due to the integrated replacement unit required.

Year Price range Quote
2026 £693 — £778 Price my 2026
2025 £693 — £778 Price my 2025
2024 £693 — £778 Price my 2024

2021 £332 — £706 Price my 2021
2020 £332 — £706 Price my 2020

The displayed range is an indicator — the final price is produced by the quote form after you confirm your variant. Older Vauxhall Astra models can still be booked.

Price quoted was less than price charged!

I was quoted a price which was confirmed and then got a phone call telling me that the glass would be £120 more than quoted and I could either cancel or pay the extra. The actual fitting was completed at the booked time and was carried out in a professional manner by a friendly fitter.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Vauxhall Astra windscreen replacement

Your windscreen replacement follows a straightforward path from quote to fitting.

  1. 1

Start with our guided quote — answer a few questions about your Astra's features (year, engine, options) in under 60 seconds and receive an instant estimate.

  2. 2

Once booked, our parts-check team confirms the exact windscreen variant and any camera or sensor features specific to your car.

  3. 3

You're matched with an approved fitter in your area who arranges a convenient time — mobile fitting at your address is standard, or workshop if you prefer.

  4. 4

On the day, your fitter typically spends 45–90 minutes replacing the windscreen and confirming any ADAS calibration if your model requires it. You'll receive a confirmed drive-away time before they leave.

  5. 5

You're covered by our two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality. If any concerns arise, contact us and we'll arrange an inspection.

From quote to booked appointment, the whole process takes under two minutes.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Astra?

Most Astra windscreen replacements are fitted at your home or workplace via mobile appointment — the standard and most convenient option. If your Astra is equipped with a forward-facing camera for driver assistance, calibration is required after the glass is fitted, and some variants need a workshop environment with specialist equipment for this process.

When a workshop visit is needed, the entire job (replacement plus calibration) is scheduled at one location under our no-split rule — this ensures safety-critical calibration is completed and confirmed. Your fitter will discuss this at booking if it applies to your car.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Blue Sun Strip8
    1983–2009

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 8 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (27%); model years 1983–2009.

A blue-tinted gradient band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare without affecting your view of the road.

    What it means

A blue sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the upper edge of your windscreen's laminate layer. It reduces glare from sunlight reflecting off the road and bonnet without darkening your main field of vision. The tint is created during manufacture as part of the glass laminate itself — it cannot be added or removed later. Sun strips are a windscreen-only feature; rear and side windows cannot carry this effect because they use tempered rather than laminated glass.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the car — you'll see a distinct blue-tinted band running horizontally across the upper portion. Check your vehicle's specification sheet or ask your dealership service centre whether your windscreen is listed as a 'blue sun strip' or 'tinted sun strip' variant. Your invoice or parts manual will confirm it.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a blue sun strip, the replacement must be the sun-strip variant — a standard plain windscreen will not replicate the tinted band. Your replacement glass is sourced as an exact match to your original specification. There are no additional calibration or cure implications beyond a standard windscreen replacement. Fitting and drive-away times remain unchanged.

  • Clear6
    1979–2005Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 6 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (20%); model years 1979–2005; calibration varies by vehicle.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)4
    2015–2026

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 4 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (13%); model years 2015–2026.

    What it means

A laminated glass with sound-damping properties that reduce road and wind noise — a premium comfort feature on select Astra variants.

    On your Vauxhall Astra

Confirmed during the quote on higher-specification models where acoustic glass is a factory option.

  • Camera4
    2015–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 4 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (13%); model years 2015–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen that enables lane-keeping assist and other driver-safety features on some Astras.

    On your Vauxhall Astra

Present on newer Astras with modern driver-assistance systems; identified during the quote and calibrated after fitting if required.

  • Coating3
    1998–2005

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 3 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (10%); model years 1998–2005.

Coated windscreens have a blue or purple tint and protect your car from UV rays and heat.

    What it means

A coated windscreen has a special protective layer applied to the glass that appears as a blue or purple tint and often reflects a silvery-blue colour in bright sunlight. This coating is designed to reduce the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that enters the vehicle, helping to keep the interior cooler and protecting upholstery and dashboard components from UV damage and fading. The coating is integral to the glass and doesn't require any special maintenance from you.

    How to tell

Look at your windscreen in bright daylight — a coated windscreen will show a distinct blue or purple tint and a silvery-blue reflection when the sun hits it directly. Check your vehicle's service booklet or window sticker (usually on the driver's door jamb), which may list the glass specification. Alternatively, ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your windscreen carries a UV or heat-rejection coating.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a coated windscreen, the replacement glass must match the original specification — including the coating type and tint level — to maintain the same UV and heat protection and to preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Original-equipment or equivalent aftermarket coated glass is sourced to specification. The coating is applied during glass manufacture; no post-fit treatment is required. Fitting and cure times are unaffected by the presence of the coating.

  • Bracket For Safety Features2
    2015–2022Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 2 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (7%); model years 2015–2022; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

Calibration mix across our Vauxhall variants

    • 1Dynamic

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Bronze2
    1979–1991

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 2 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (7%); model years 1979–1991.

Bronze tint reduces glare and heat whilst maintaining a warm aesthetic that complements most vehicle interiors.

    What it means

Bronze tint is a coloured coating applied to the windscreen during manufacture to reduce solar heat transmission and glare from sunlight. It's one of several standard tint options (alongside green, grey, and blue) offered by most vehicle makers. The tint doesn't impair visibility but gives the glass a warm, brownish appearance when viewed from outside. Most modern vehicles have some form of windscreen tint as standard—it's rarely a clear, untinted windscreen.

    How to tell

Roll down a side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind the glass from outside. If you see a bronze or warm-brown tint in the side window, your windscreen carries the same tint. Alternatively, ask your vehicle's dealer or service centre for the original windscreen specification—they can confirm the tint colour code. Most documentation refers to it as 'bronze' or occasionally 'warm bronze'.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with bronze tint, the replacement glass must match the original tint specification exactly. Fitting an untinted or differently tinted windscreen will create a noticeable colour mismatch with the side windows and alter the vehicle's interior light and thermal characteristics. We confirm the exact tint code from your vehicle's records and source an OE-equivalent or OEM glass to preserve the original appearance and performance.

  • Dynamic Camera Calibration Process2
    2015–2022Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 2 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (7%); model years 2015–2022; calibration varies by vehicle.

Dynamic calibration uses road driving to recalibrate your camera after windscreen replacement.

    What it means

Dynamic camera calibration is a procedure in which a technician drives the vehicle on marked roads at set speeds after the windscreen has been fitted and the adhesive has cured. During this drive, the forward-facing camera relearns its reference points — lane markings, road signs, road edges and surrounding traffic patterns — so it can resume accurate operation of camera-dependent safety and driver-assistance systems. This recalibration is necessary because any windscreen replacement, even with precision fitting, can introduce small shifts in the camera's optical alignment relative to the road.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or contact your dealer to confirm whether your car has a forward-facing camera system. If it does, ask the dealer whether your specific model requires dynamic (road-drive) or static (target-board) calibration after windscreen replacement. You can also ask your fitter — they will establish this when they look up your vehicle's specification.

    Replacement impact

After your windscreen is fitted and the bonding has cured, a technician will drive the vehicle on marked roads at controlled speeds to allow the camera to relearn its environment. This extends the overall job duration beyond the glass-fitting time alone. Depending on your vehicle, calibration may be performed during the same visit or scheduled separately. We confirm the exact procedure and location (mobile or workshop) when we look up your specific vehicle.

  • Heated Windscreen1
    2022–2026

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 1 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (3%); model years 2022–2026.

Heated windscreens use embedded wires to quickly clear ice and condensation in cold weather.

    What it means

A heated windscreen is integrated with a fine mesh of electrical wires embedded within the glass itself. When activated, these wires generate heat to warm the windscreen surface, helping to rapidly clear frost, ice, and condensation during cold or damp conditions. This feature improves visibility and safety in winter driving and reduces reliance on engine heat and demister air, which can be slower on very cold mornings.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or contact your dealership service centre — they can confirm whether your model includes this feature. Look for a dashboard symbol (usually a windscreen icon with heat waves) when you activate the function, or check your infotainment settings for a heating or climate option linked to the windscreen. Some vehicles have a dedicated button on the stalk or console.

    Replacement impact

Heated windscreens require replacement glass to be of the correct heated specification — standard unheated glass cannot be fitted. The replacement glass must be sourced to match your vehicle's exact heated-wire configuration. Installation is straightforward, though the technician will confirm the heating element is functioning correctly after fitting. No calibration is required for this feature.

  • Static Camera Calibration Process1
    2015–2020Static calibration required

On the Vauxhall Astra: fitted on 1 of the 30 windscreen variants we list (3%); model years 2015–2020; static calibration required.

Static calibration uses printed targets indoors to align your forward-facing camera after windscreen replacement.

    What it means

Static camera calibration is a procedure in which a forward-facing camera system is realigned using printed target boards positioned at manufacturer-specified distances and heights in front of the vehicle. The vehicle remains stationary indoors throughout. A diagnostic tool reads the camera's view of these targets and adjusts the camera's alignment to factory specification. This ensures the camera can accurately detect road features, lane markings, pedestrians, and other objects — critical for driver-assistance systems like lane-keeping, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control to function safely and reliably.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer's service centre whether your car has a forward-facing camera system that requires calibration after windscreen replacement. Look for driver-assistance features like lane-keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, or adaptive cruise control on the dashboard menu.

    Replacement impact

When a windscreen with an integrated or bracket-mounted camera is replaced, the camera's alignment can shift. Static calibration realigns the camera using indoor target boards, which must be performed in a workshop environment where printed targets can be positioned and secured at precise distances. This procedure is conducted after the windscreen is fitted and bonded. The workshop booking accommodates the additional time required for calibration, and we apply the no-split policy — both replacement and calibration happen at the same location on the same visit.

About the Vauxhall Astra

The Vauxhall Astra has been a staple of the UK market since 1979, evolving through multiple generations with steadily advancing glass technology. Early models carried straightforward laminated windscreens, while newer Astras from the mid-2010s onwards feature rain sensors, solar-control glass, and encapsulated trim bonded directly to the glass for a seamless fit.

From around the mid-2010s, some Astra variants introduced forward-facing cameras for driver assistance systems. These camera-equipped windscreens require specialist calibration after replacement — a process that runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time. The majority of active Astras in our catalogue carry a green-tinted windscreen as standard, which is barely visible but important to match on replacement.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Only if your model is equipped with a forward-facing camera for driver assistance — about 13% of Astras in our catalogue. If calibration is required, it's confirmed during your quote and carried out after the glass is fitted. Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time.

Seven out of every ten Astras have a subtle green tint in the windscreen that you may not have noticed. Your replacement glass must match this tint — our quote process identifies it automatically, so there's no guesswork. A handful of Astras carry clear or bronze-tinted glass instead, and we ensure the correct variant is supplied to you.

Yes — while mobile fitting at your address is standard, you can request a workshop appointment at booking. This is useful if weather is poor, parking is difficult, or you prefer a controlled environment. Just let us know when you book.

Some Astras have a rubber trim pre-bonded to the windscreen at the factory (encapsulation). On these, your replacement arrives as a single unit — glass and trim together — rather than separate pieces. This affects both the fitting process and the overall cost. Our quote identifies whether your Astra needs an encapsulated or standard windscreen.
