Renault Trafic windscreen price, by year

Prices vary significantly across the 16 active variants, driven by generation and ADAS adoption. Older models without cameras are the most affordable; newer variants with rain sensors, solar control, and acoustic glass carry higher replacement costs due to the specialist sourcing required.

Workshop-based calibration for camera-equipped models also affects pricing. Your quote will reflect the exact features present on your Trafic.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

Specialists on our network handle everything from the quote through to the final check, so you can get back on the road with confidence.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Trafic?

Most Trafic windscreen replacements can be completed mobile at your location. However, if your variant is equipped with a front-facing camera for lane-keeping or adaptive cruise control, static camera calibration is required after fitting — this typically happens at a workshop using target boards in a controlled environment.

When calibration is needed, the entire job (replacement and calibration) is scheduled at the workshop as a single visit, not split across locations. Your fitter will confirm the location when you book.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Clear4
    1981–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Renault Trafic: fitted on 4 of the 17 windscreen variants we list (24%); model years 1981–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

  • Coating3
    2001–2026

On the Renault Trafic: fitted on 3 of the 17 windscreen variants we list (18%); model years 2001–2026.

Coated windscreens have a blue or purple tint and protect your car from UV rays and heat.

    What it means

A coated windscreen has a special protective layer applied to the glass that appears as a blue or purple tint and often reflects a silvery-blue colour in bright sunlight. This coating is designed to reduce the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that enters the vehicle, helping to keep the interior cooler and protecting upholstery and dashboard components from UV damage and fading. The coating is integral to the glass and doesn't require any special maintenance from you.

    How to tell

Look at your windscreen in bright daylight — a coated windscreen will show a distinct blue or purple tint and a silvery-blue reflection when the sun hits it directly. Check your vehicle's service booklet or window sticker (usually on the driver's door jamb), which may list the glass specification. Alternatively, ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your windscreen carries a UV or heat-rejection coating.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a coated windscreen, the replacement glass must match the original specification — including the coating type and tint level — to maintain the same UV and heat protection and to preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Original-equipment or equivalent aftermarket coated glass is sourced to specification. The coating is applied during glass manufacture; no post-fit treatment is required. Fitting and cure times are unaffected by the presence of the coating.

  • Camera2
    2014–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Renault Trafic: fitted on 2 of the 17 windscreen variants we list (12%); model years 2014–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A front-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen that powers lane-keeping assistance and other safety features.

    On your Renault Trafic

Rare across the Trafic range; if present, you'll see a triangular bracket in the black field near the rear-view mirror. Requires static calibration after replacement.

  • Light Sensor2
    2006–2026

On the Renault Trafic: fitted on 2 of the 17 windscreen variants we list (12%); model years 2006–2026.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Grey Sun Strip1
    2002–2026

On the Renault Trafic: fitted on 1 of the 17 windscreen variants we list (6%); model years 2002–2026.

A grey-tinted band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare from sunlight and reflections above.

    What it means

A grey sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the top edge of the windscreen during manufacture. It sits within the laminated glass layers and gradually fades from opaque grey at the very top to clear further down. The strip is designed to reduce glare and reflections from sunlight, street lights, and oncoming headlights, improving comfort and visibility for the driver without obstructing the view of traffic signals or overhead hazards. Sun strips are a factory-applied feature unique to windscreens—they cannot be added to side or rear glass because those are typically toughened rather than laminated.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the vehicle. You will see a grey-tinted band that fades to clear glass. The tint is gradual and integral to the glass itself, not a removable film or coating. Your vehicle's service records or handbook may also list it as a standard feature. If unsure, ask your dealer or service centre whether your specific model includes a sun strip.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a sun strip, the replacement glass must be sourced in the exact matching variant—including the sun-strip tint and fade profile. Aftermarket and OE glass are both available for most vehicles, but the variant must be correct to match your original. There is no calibration required for the sun strip itself. If your windscreen also carries camera or sensor features, those will be calibrated separately according to your vehicle's needs.

About the Renault Trafic

The Renault Trafic has been in continuous production since 1981, serving as one of Europe's most popular light commercial vehicles. Over its generations, the windscreen has evolved from straightforward laminated glass to include tinting, rain sensors, and solar-control options on newer variants.

From the mid-2010s onwards, higher-specification Trafic models began introducing advanced driver assistance features, including front-camera systems for lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control. This means later variants require camera calibration after windscreen replacement, though the process runs in parallel with the adhesive cure.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Only if your model is equipped with a front-facing camera for driver-assistance features — this applies to a small number of newer Trafic variants. Your quote will identify this during the parts check.

If calibration is required, it's completed after the glass is set and runs in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time. You'll be matched with a technician who can handle it, and the job will be scheduled at a workshop if needed.

Most Trafic models carry a subtle green tint as standard. Around 44% include rain sensors for automatic wipers, and the same proportion have solar-control coatings to reduce heat in the cab.

Acoustic (noise-dampening) glass is fitted to about a quarter of variants, typically on higher-spec models. Your specific windscreen's feature set depends on your variant and will be confirmed during your quote.

Yes — the glass sourced by your fitter is matched to your factory specification, including any tint, rain sensor, acoustic layer, solar coating, or camera bracket. Your specialist verifies the exact variant during the parts check before the fitting day.

A standard replacement typically takes 45–90 minutes of the fitter's time, depending on the vehicle's condition and whether camera calibration is required. If calibration is needed, the job takes longer, but the drive-away time remains unchanged because calibration runs in parallel with the adhesive cure.

Your fitter will confirm the minimum drive-away time before leaving — usually a few hours.
