Porsche 993 windscreen price, by year

Price variation on the 993 is primarily driven by whether your variant includes the green sun strip — a laminate feature that requires a specific glass variant. Early or base-spec 993s without this detail are more straightforward to source. All variants carry the antenna and VIN notch, which are factored into parts availability and technician setup time.

Year Price range Quote
1998 £673 £711 Price my 1998
1997 £673 £711 Price my 1997
1996 £673 £711 Price my 1996

1994 £673 £711 Price my 1994
1993 £673 £711 Price my 1993

The displayed range is an indicator — the final price is produced by the quote form after you confirm your variant. Older 993s can still be booked.

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Porsche 993 windscreen replacement

Booking your 993 windscreen replacement is a straightforward online process, from quote to fitting day.

  1. 1

Answer a short quiz about your 993's year and features — the online widget identifies your exact variant in under 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Review the instant quote and book your preferred date and location (mobile at your address or at a workshop near you).

  3. 3

Our parts-check team confirms your glass variant, including antenna type and sun-strip presence, before your fitter is assigned.

  4. 4

Your fitter arrives with pre-fitted encapsulation and the matched antenna, setting the glass and bonding it with polyurethane adhesive.

  5. 5

The fitter confirms your drive-away time on the day, typically within a couple of hours, allowing adhesive cure to complete.

  6. 6

Your replacement is backed by a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

Questions after fitting are handled directly through UKCG, so you're never left guessing about your warranty.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your 993?

Most 993 windscreen replacements are fitted mobile at your address, since this classic Porsche predates camera-based ADAS systems and requires no post-fitting calibration. Your approved fitter will bring the glass, antenna connector, and tools needed to bond the windscreen and set the encapsulation.

If weather is poor or you prefer a workshop environment, you can choose a local workshop instead at booking — simply select that option in the quote. Either way, the process and drive-away time remain the same.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your 993 have?

  • Antenna2
    1993–1998

An aerial laminated into the windscreen or rear window restores radio, DAB or TV reception without a roof-mounted mast.

    What it means

An antenna is a conductive print laminated into the glass during manufacture, typically used for radio, DAB (digital audio broadcasting) or television reception. It replaces the traditional roof-mounted aerial mast found on older vehicles. The antenna is integrated into the glass interlayer and connected to the vehicle's receiver unit via a connector embedded in the glass edge. This design offers a cleaner aesthetic, reduces wind noise, and eliminates the vulnerability of a protruding mast to damage or theft.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's roof — if there is no visible aerial mast, your car likely has a laminated antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre whether your windscreen or rear window carries an antenna print. The connector may be visible on the glass edge or inside the door frame trim.

    Replacement impact

When replacing glass with a laminated antenna, the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector to restore reception immediately on fitting. Aftermarket or original-equipment glass with the correct antenna specification is essential; a plain replacement will leave you without radio or DAB signal. Our fitters verify the antenna specification during booking and source the correct variant before the appointment.

  • Green2
    1993–1998

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Vin Notch2
    1993–1998

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

  • Green Sun Strip1
    1993–1998

A green-tinted band at the windscreen's top edge that reduces glare from sunlight above.

    What it means

A green sun strip is a graduated tint band integrated into the windscreen's laminate at the upper edge. It filters intense sunlight and glare from above — particularly useful on motorways and in bright conditions — whilst maintaining clarity through the main viewing area below. The tint is permanent, fused into the laminate layer during manufacture, and cannot be applied or removed afterwards. Sun strips are a windscreen-only feature because they must be built into the laminate during production; side and rear glass cannot carry them as they are typically toughened rather than laminated.

    How to tell

Look at the top edge of your windscreen from the inside. A sun strip appears as a distinct green-tinted gradient band that fades from darker at the very top to clear below. It is visible whether the car is parked or moving. You can also check your vehicle's specification sheet or ask your dealership or current service centre to confirm whether your windscreen includes a sun strip.

    Replacement impact

The replacement windscreen must be the green sun strip variant to match your original. This is not a post-fit addition; it must be ordered as part of the glass itself. Availability is usually straightforward for current and recent models from major manufacturers, though older or less common variants may require a longer lead time. The sun strip does not affect calibration requirements or cure time — it is simply a laminate feature and does not complicate the fitting process.

About the Porsche 993

The Porsche 993, built from 1993 to 1998, represents the last air-cooled generation of the 911. Its windscreen carries a green tint and integral antenna for radio reception, along with a VIN notch at the base — all features that must be matched on replacement to preserve the original design and functionality.

Half of the 993 variants in our network also feature a green sun strip laminated into the windscreen, a gradient band that reduces glare from above. This is a critical detail for your replacement: if your model carries it, the replacement must too.

Because the 993 predates modern ADAS systems, windscreen replacement focuses on straightforward glass matching and adhesive bonding — no camera recalibration needed. Your fitter will ensure the antenna connector and encapsulated rubber trim are properly seated so the vehicle is ready to drive after fitting.
