Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Cayman?

Most Porsche Cayman windscreen replacements are fitted mobile at your address, as the model does not typically require camera calibration after replacement. However, if your variant carries advanced driver-assistance features requiring post-fit calibration, the full job is scheduled at a workshop so calibration can be completed in a controlled environment — we never split the job across two locations.

Your fitter will discuss location options when confirming your booking and will clearly explain any calibration requirements.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Antenna4
    2005–2025

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on every one of the 4 windscreen variants we list; model years 2005–2025.

    What it means

A radio or DAB aerial laminated into the windscreen glass, replacing a traditional roof mast — present on all variants.

    On your Porsche Cayman

Standard equipment; your replacement carries the matching antenna print and connector.

  • Green4
    2005–2025

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on every one of the 4 windscreen variants we list; model years 2005–2025.

    What it means

A subtle green tint in the laminate that's almost invisible but helps reduce light transmission and reflections — standard across all Caymans.

    On your Porsche Cayman

Universal on the model range; your replacement will match this tint automatically.

  • Grey Sun Strip4
    2005–2025

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on every one of the 4 windscreen variants we list; model years 2005–2025.

    What it means

A grey-tinted gradient band across the top of the windscreen that cuts glare from above — factory-applied and matched on your replacement.

    On your Porsche Cayman

Found on most modern Caymans; your replacement will carry the matching sun-strip configuration.

  • Solar Control4

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on every one of the 4 windscreen variants we list; model years 2005–2025.

    What it means

The windscreen absorbs infrared rays from the sun, reducing cabin heat and glare — present on all current Cayman variants.

    On your Porsche Cayman

Standard on all models from 2005 onwards; confirmed during your quote.

  • Rain Sensor3
    2005–2025No calibration after replacement

    What it means

An optical sensor that automatically activates your wipers when it detects rain, integrated into the windscreen.

  • Vin Notch3
    2005–2025

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on 3 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (75%); model years 2005–2025.

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

  • GPS1
    2005–2012

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 2005–2012.

GPS antenna built into the windscreen connects your sat-nav to satellite signals for reliable navigation.

    What it means

A GPS antenna is laminated into the windscreen glass during manufacture, providing a direct aerial connection for your vehicle's satellite-navigation system. This integrated design offers better signal reception than external antennas and a cleaner aesthetic. The antenna print and electrical connector are engineered into the glass itself, allowing the navigation receiver to lock onto GPS satellites without interference from the vehicle's metal body or other components.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealership service centre whether your windscreen carries an integrated GPS antenna. You won't see obvious external aerials or connectors on the glass itself — the antenna is laminated internally. If your sat-nav works reliably without a visible roof-mounted antenna, it's likely GPS-equipped.

    Replacement impact

Replacement windscreens with GPS antennas must be sourced as OEM (original-equipment) glass to preserve navigation functionality. The antenna print pattern and electrical connector are specific to your vehicle's sat-nav system. Aftermarket glass without the antenna print will not support GPS reception. We confirm OEM availability when you book; lead times may be slightly longer than standard glass.

  • TV Antenna1
    2005–2012

On the Porsche Cayman: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 2005–2012.

A TV-reception aerial printed into the rear window, typically for in-car entertainment systems.

    What it means

A TV antenna is an aerial pattern laminated into the rear windscreen or rear side window to receive broadcast television signals. It's a separate system from the vehicle's radio or mobile antenna and is typically found in vehicles equipped with rear-seat entertainment systems. The antenna is printed directly onto or into the glass during manufacture, so when the glass is replaced, the antenna pattern must be reproduced on the replacement to maintain reception quality.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or handbook for rear-seat entertainment or TV tuner capability. If your car has a rear-seat entertainment system with a TV tuner, the rear window will have a TV antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre to confirm whether your vehicle has this feature.

    Replacement impact

When the rear window is replaced, the replacement glass must include the matching TV antenna print to preserve reception. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) glass is typically required to ensure the antenna pattern is identical. The antenna is passive and requires no calibration or specialist procedures after fitting. Cure time for bonded rear glass is required; the fitter will confirm the drive-away time on the day.

About the Porsche Cayman

The Porsche Cayman has evolved through multiple generations since its 2005 launch, establishing itself as a mid-engine sports car favoured for its handling and precision engineering.

Across the model range, windscreens are equipped with green-tinted laminate, solar-control coating to manage cabin heat, and antenna integration for radio reception — features present on all current variants. Rain sensors appear on most models, automating wiper response in wet conditions.

Modern Caymans benefit from the encapsulation and fitting-hardware pre-assembly that simplifies installation. A small subset carry GPS or TV aerials for navigation and rear-seat entertainment respectively, though these remain optional rather than universal fitments.
