Mercedes V Class windscreen price, by year

Prices vary with generation and equipment level — earlier models without cameras or rain sensors are typically more affordable, whilst newer V-Class variants with ADAS camera systems and solar-control glass command higher costs due to calibration complexity and specialist parts sourcing.

Encapsulation (pre-fitted rubber trim bonded to the glass edges) is present on some variants and affects part availability and fitting scope.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Mercedes V Class windscreen replacement

Your booking flows from an instant quote through to a fitted windscreen in a few simple stages.

  1. 1

Answer a short guided quiz about your V-Class year, trim, and features — this identifies the exact windscreen variant you need.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote matched to your vehicle, then book your appointment online.

  3. 3

A UKCG partner technician is assigned from your area and contacts you to arrange the time and location (mobile at your address or workshop, depending on ADAS calibration needs).

  4. 4

On the day, the technician fits your replacement windscreen, carrying out any required static camera calibration at a workshop if your V-Class has a Driver Assistance Package.

  5. 5

Your technician confirms the drive-away time before you leave, and you're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

The whole process — from quote to fitting — is managed through UKCG's network, so you get local expertise without the dealership price.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your V Class?

Most V-Class windscreen replacements can be fitted at your home or workplace as a mobile visit. However, if your V-Class carries the optional Driver Assistance Package with a forward-facing camera (fitted to a minority of variants from approximately 2022 onwards), the job moves to a workshop so that static camera calibration can be completed in a controlled environment with diagnostic target boards.

This isn't a split journey — the entire replacement and any required calibration is scheduled at one location, and drive-away time is confirmed by your technician on the day.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

  • Light Sensor4
    2014–2026

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 4 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2014–2026.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Bracket For Safety Features3
    2014–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 3 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (13%); model years 2014–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 3 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (13%); model years 2014–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen, typically near the rear-view mirror, used by Mercedes Driver Assistance systems for lane-keeping, collision warning and sign recognition.

    On your Mercedes V Class

Look for a small triangular shape in the black field near the rear-view mirror, or confirmed during your quote. Present on approximately 16% of V-Class variants, mostly from 2022 onwards.

  • Green Sun Strip3
    1996–2014

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 3 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (13%); model years 1996–2014.

A green-tinted band at the windscreen's top edge that reduces glare from sunlight above.

    What it means

A green sun strip is a graduated tint band integrated into the windscreen's laminate at the upper edge. It filters intense sunlight and glare from above — particularly useful on motorways and in bright conditions — whilst maintaining clarity through the main viewing area below. The tint is permanent, fused into the laminate layer during manufacture, and cannot be applied or removed afterwards. Sun strips are a windscreen-only feature because they must be built into the laminate during production; side and rear glass cannot carry them as they are typically toughened rather than laminated.

    How to tell

Look at the top edge of your windscreen from the inside. A sun strip appears as a distinct green-tinted gradient band that fades from darker at the very top to clear below. It is visible whether the car is parked or moving. You can also check your vehicle's specification sheet or ask your dealership or current service centre to confirm whether your windscreen includes a sun strip.

    Replacement impact

The replacement windscreen must be the green sun strip variant to match your original. This is not a post-fit addition; it must be ordered as part of the glass itself. Availability is usually straightforward for current and recent models from major manufacturers, though older or less common variants may require a longer lead time. The sun strip does not affect calibration requirements or cure time — it is simply a laminate feature and does not complicate the fitting process.

  • Mono Camera2
    2014–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 2 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (9%); model years 2014–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

A single camera mounted near the rear-view mirror that helps with lane-keeping and collision avoidance.

    What it means

A mono camera is a single-lens camera positioned behind the windscreen, typically in the upper centre area near the rear-view mirror. It captures the road ahead and uses computer vision to detect lane markings, vehicles, and road hazards. The camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. It forms the visual foundation of these safety features, allowing the vehicle to monitor road position and surrounding traffic automatically.

    How to tell

Look in the black trim area above the windscreen, centred behind the rear-view mirror — you will see a small triangular lens assembly or dark lens cover. Check your vehicle handbook or ask your dealer's service department to confirm your model has lane-assistance or collision-warning features; vehicles with these systems almost always have a mono camera. Dashboard warning symbols related to lane or collision systems also indicate the presence of this camera.

    Replacement impact

When the windscreen is replaced, the camera bracket and lens assembly must be removed and carefully repositioned on the new glass. The camera may require calibration after fitting to ensure accurate road detection and lane recognition. Calibration needs vary by vehicle — we confirm the exact procedure when we look up your specific vehicle. The job may take longer than a standard windscreen replacement, and workshop facilities may be required if calibration demands a controlled environment.

Calibration mix across our Mercedes variants

    • 1Static

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Static Camera Calibration Process2
    2014–2026Static calibration required

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 2 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (9%); model years 2014–2026; static calibration required.

    What it means

A specialist procedure that aligns the windscreen-mounted camera after replacement, required on newer Mercedes models with Driver Assistance systems — essential for safety-critical ADAS functions.

    On your Mercedes V Class

If your V-Class has a forward-facing camera and a Driver Assistance Package option, static calibration will be needed and carried out at a workshop by a UKCG technician trained in Mercedes systems.

  • Sensor Heated Zone1
    2024–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 1 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (4%); model years 2024–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Heated zones around sensors prevent frost and moisture buildup, helping your safety systems work reliably.

    What it means

A sensor heated zone is an electrical heating element integrated into or around camera, radar, or sensor mounts on the windscreen. Its purpose is to prevent frost, ice, condensation, and moisture accumulation on sensor lenses and housings. This keeps safety systems — such as lane-keeping assist, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control — functioning accurately in cold, wet, or foggy conditions. Without this heating, moisture or ice can obscure sensors and cause them to malfunction or deactivate.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook for mention of 'heated sensor zone' or 'sensor heating' in the windscreen or ADAS section. Look at the top edge of your windscreen where cameras or radar modules are mounted — you may see small heating elements or wiring near these components. Ask your dealership or service centre directly: they can confirm whether your specific model includes sensor heating as standard.

    Replacement impact

Windscreens with heated sensor zones require careful handling during replacement to preserve the heating element and its electrical connections. The heating circuit must be reconnected properly after the new glass is fitted. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve static or dynamic camera calibration after installation. We confirm the exact procedure — including any calibration needs — when we look up your vehicle details.

  • Vin Notch1
    2024–2026

On the Mercedes V Class: fitted on 1 of the 23 windscreen variants we list (4%); model years 2024–2026.

A printed VIN reference box along the bottom edge of your windscreen helps identify your vehicle's chassis number at a glance.

    What it means

A VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) notch is a small printed or etched box positioned along the lower edge of the windscreen that displays your vehicle's chassis number. This reference marking is a manufacturing and administrative feature, allowing quick visual identification of the vehicle without needing to consult documents. It's particularly useful for service records, insurance claims, and vehicle registration purposes. The notch itself doesn't affect the structural integrity or safety performance of the glass.

    How to tell

Look along the bottom edge of your windscreen — typically in one of the lower corners — for a small rectangular box containing printed digits or characters. If you're uncertain, check your vehicle's service handbook or ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your model includes this feature.

    Replacement impact

When your windscreen is replaced, the new glass will retain the VIN notch printed or etched by the manufacturer. This is a standard feature on replacement windscreens for compatible vehicles and requires no additional work or adjustment. The notch does not affect glass fitting, cure time, or any post-replacement calibration procedures.

About the Mercedes V Class

The Mercedes V-Class has been in continuous production since 1996, evolving through multiple generations as a premium family MPV. Earlier models carry straightforward laminated windscreens, whilst later generations from the early 2010s onwards feature rain sensors, green-tinted glass, and solar-control coatings to reduce cabin heat.

From approximately 2022 onwards, newer V-Class variants began receiving forward-facing camera systems as part of Mercedes' Driver Assistance Package, introducing windscreen-mounted ADAS sensors that require specialist static calibration after replacement. This makes modern V-Class windscreen jobs more involved than older models, but the process is handled at a workshop by technicians trained in Mercedes systems.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Only if your model carries the optional Driver Assistance Package with a forward-facing camera — this applies to a small percentage of V-Class variants, mostly from 2022 onwards. During your quote, we'll confirm whether your variant has this feature. If it does, static calibration is mandatory for safety and will be carried out at a workshop by a Mercedes-trained technician using diagnostic equipment.

Older V-Class models (1996–early 2010s) carry simpler laminated glass with basic tinting. From the early 2010s onwards, rain sensors and solar-control coatings became common. Newer variants from around 2022 added camera brackets for Driver Assistance systems, which require specialist calibration after replacement. Your quote identifies exactly which features your model has.

If your V-Class has an antenna laminated into the windscreen — common on 68% of V-Class variants — the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector so reception is fully restored. This is verified during our parts check before fitting, so signal strength won't be compromised.

About 79% of V-Class models come with a subtle green tint in the windscreen as factory standard — it's so faint that many owners don't notice it, but it reduces glare and cabin heat. The replacement will match your original, so the tint remains consistent.
