Land Rover Discovery windscreen price, by year

Price variation reflects generation, ADAS presence, and glass specification. Earlier non-camera Discovery models without acoustic or solar features are the most affordable; mid-range variants with rain sensors and acoustic glass cost more; later models with InControl cameras and full safety suites require calibration and carry the highest cost.

Solar-control and heated windscreen options on premium trims also influence pricing. Encapsulated glass (with trim pre-bonded at the factory) is typically pricier than non-encapsulated variants.

Year Price range Quote
2026 £727 — £1,486 Price my 2026
2025 £727 — £1,486 Price my 2025

From start to finish absolutely…

From start to finish absolutely brilliant service. I contacted via a quote on line. Got a very quick response, then I emailed a query and they got back to me straight away. I booked on line on Monday and had a technician on Tuesday. Ben was brilliant, told me he was coming between 2.30pm and 3.30pm, arrived on time, was friendly, explained everything he had to do, worked quickly and efficiently. He showed me the work at the end, got me to check it all worked correctly and inspect his work. I could not be happier with the service from the first contact to the completion - thoroughly recommend.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Land Rover Discovery windscreen replacement

Booking your Discovery windscreen replacement is straightforward — from quote to fitting day takes just a few steps.

  1. 1

Answer a quick online quiz about your Discovery's year, trim, and features — takes about a minute. Our system identifies your exact windscreen variant from the 28 options in our catalogue.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote. Review it, then proceed to checkout — the full booking is done in under two minutes.

  3. 3

Our parts check team confirms your glass is in stock and matches your factory specification, including any ADAS brackets, camera mounts, or acoustic features.

  4. 4

You're matched with a local specialist near you. If your Discovery has an InControl camera system, we'll schedule the job at a workshop so static calibration can be completed after the glass is fitted.

  5. 5

On fitting day, the specialist replaces your windscreen (typically 45–90 minutes of their time for a non-ADAS fit; longer if calibration is involved). If calibration is needed, it runs in parallel with adhesive cure — you can drive away as soon as the fitter confirms it's ready.

  6. 6

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality. The specialist provides aftercare advice before you leave.

Your Discovery is back on the road with a matched, UK-approved windscreen — booked and fitted by specialists near you.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Discovery?

Most Discovery windscreen replacements can be done mobile at your home or workplace. However, if your model is equipped with an InControl front camera system for Lane Keep Assist or Collision Warning, the specialist will schedule the job at a workshop.

Why? Static camera calibration requires a controlled environment with target boards and specialist equipment — it can't be done safely on a driveway. The full job (replacement and calibration) happens at one location so you know the safety system is properly recalibrated before you drive away.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 15 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (56%); model years 1994–2026.

    What it means

A mesh of thin heating wires embedded in the glass that quickly defrost or demist the windscreen in winter conditions.

    On your Land Rover Discovery

If you have a heated windscreen, you'll see a dedicated heater control on your dashboard. Common on Discovery models from the mid-2010s onwards.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)10
    2017–2026

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 10 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (37%); model years 2017–2026.

    What it means

A laminated interlayer that dampens road and wind noise, creating a quieter cabin — often marketed as 'SoundScreen' or marked with an ear symbol.

    On your Land Rover Discovery

Acoustic glass is typically found on higher trims and newer model years. Confirmed during the quote process.

  • Light Sensor10
    2011–2026

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 10 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (37%); model years 2011–2026.

Light sensors automatically turn your headlights on at dusk or in tunnels; the replacement windscreen must include the sensor bracket.

    What it means

A light sensor is a small optical detector mounted on the windscreen or dashboard that monitors ambient light levels. When light drops below a threshold—at dusk or when entering a tunnel—it triggers your headlights to switch on automatically. This removes the need to manually operate the lights and improves safety by ensuring visibility when conditions darken suddenly. The sensor is typically mounted behind the windscreen's top edge or integrated into the interior mirror housing, where it has an unobstructed view of the sky.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer whether your car has automatic headlight control or 'auto lights' as a feature. If equipped, you'll see a symbol on the stalk or dashboard dial marked with a light-bulb icon or 'AUTO' setting. When you select this mode and the ambient light dims, the headlights activate without manual input. Not all cars have this feature; it's typically found on newer or higher-specification models.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen on a vehicle with a light sensor, the replacement glass must include the correct sensor bracket or mounting point to preserve the auto-headlight function. The sensor itself does not require software calibration—it relies on physical positioning behind the windscreen's upper trim or within the mirror assembly. Ensuring the bracket is correctly installed during the fit is essential; if omitted, the auto-light feature will fail and cannot be restored without additional parts and labour.

  • Dynamic Camera Calibration Process8
    2017–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 8 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (30%); model years 2017–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Dynamic calibration uses road driving to recalibrate your camera after windscreen replacement.

    What it means

Dynamic camera calibration is a procedure in which a technician drives the vehicle on marked roads at set speeds after the windscreen has been fitted and the adhesive has cured. During this drive, the forward-facing camera relearns its reference points — lane markings, road signs, road edges and surrounding traffic patterns — so it can resume accurate operation of camera-dependent safety and driver-assistance systems. This recalibration is necessary because any windscreen replacement, even with precision fitting, can introduce small shifts in the camera's optical alignment relative to the road.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or contact your dealer to confirm whether your car has a forward-facing camera system. If it does, ask the dealer whether your specific model requires dynamic (road-drive) or static (target-board) calibration after windscreen replacement. You can also ask your fitter — they will establish this when they look up your vehicle's specification.

    Replacement impact

After your windscreen is fitted and the bonding has cured, a technician will drive the vehicle on marked roads at controlled speeds to allow the camera to relearn its environment. This extends the overall job duration beyond the glass-fitting time alone. Depending on your vehicle, calibration may be performed during the same visit or scheduled separately. We confirm the exact procedure and location (mobile or workshop) when we look up your specific vehicle.

  • Stereo Camera8
    2017–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 8 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (30%); model years 2017–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

Two cameras mounted at the windscreen instead of one, providing depth perception for more advanced collision detection and lane-keeping on newer InControl systems.

    On your Land Rover Discovery

Two small triangular shapes in the black printed area at the top of the windscreen indicate stereo camera fitment — typical on later Discovery models with advanced ADAS packs.

  • Bracket For Safety Features6
    2017–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 6 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (22%); model years 2017–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

  • Clear4
    2017–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 4 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (15%); model years 2017–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

Calibration mix across our Land Rover variants

    • 1Dynamic

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Coating4
    2017–2026

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 4 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (15%); model years 2017–2026.

Coated windscreens have a blue or purple tint and protect your car from UV rays and heat.

    What it means

A coated windscreen has a special protective layer applied to the glass that appears as a blue or purple tint and often reflects a silvery-blue colour in bright sunlight. This coating is designed to reduce the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that enters the vehicle, helping to keep the interior cooler and protecting upholstery and dashboard components from UV damage and fading. The coating is integral to the glass and doesn't require any special maintenance from you.

    How to tell

Look at your windscreen in bright daylight — a coated windscreen will show a distinct blue or purple tint and a silvery-blue reflection when the sun hits it directly. Check your vehicle's service booklet or window sticker (usually on the driver's door jamb), which may list the glass specification. Alternatively, ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your windscreen carries a UV or heat-rejection coating.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a coated windscreen, the replacement glass must match the original specification — including the coating type and tint level — to maintain the same UV and heat protection and to preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Original-equipment or equivalent aftermarket coated glass is sourced to specification. The coating is applied during glass manufacture; no post-fit treatment is required. Fitting and cure times are unaffected by the presence of the coating.

  • HUD - Head Up Display4
    2017–2026No calibration after replacement

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 4 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (15%); model years 2017–2026; no calibration after replacement.

A Head-Up Display projects your speed, navigation cues and key alerts onto the windscreen so you can read them without looking down.

    What it means

A Head-Up Display (HUD) projects driving information — speed, navigation cues, ADAS alerts — onto the windscreen in your line of sight, so you can read it without taking your eyes off the road. The projector is mounted in the dashboard and shines the image upwards onto a special HUD-compatible windscreen that uses a wedge-shaped laminate to prevent a ghost image. Common on premium and sports models, increasingly standard on mid-range cars from the 2020s onwards.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or handbook under 'display features' or 'HUD'. Look for a small projector unit mounted on the dashboard, typically below the steering wheel or in the instrument cluster area. When you start the vehicle, a bright image should appear on the lower windscreen area. Your dealer's service centre can confirm whether your specific model and trim level includes a HUD.

    Replacement impact

Your replacement windscreen needs to be HUD-compatible — built with the correct wedge laminate so the projected image stays sharp and double-free. Once the HUD-compatible glass is fitted, the projector itself typically doesn't need recalibration: image position is user-adjustable via your dashboard controls. We confirm your vehicle uses the HUD-compatible windscreen variant when ordering, so the replacement matches the original.

  • Camera2
    2017–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 2 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (7%); model years 2017–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen at the rear-view mirror, used by the InControl driver assistance suite for Lane Keep Assist, Collision Warning, and other safety functions.

    On your Land Rover Discovery

Look for one or two small triangular shapes in the black printed area at the top of the windscreen near the rear-view mirror. Confirmed during the quote process.

  • Defogging Detector1
    2013–2013

On the Land Rover Discovery: fitted on 1 of the 27 windscreen variants we list (4%); model years 2013–2013.

A defogging detector automatically clears condensation from your windscreen, improving visibility in damp conditions.

    What it means

A defogging detector is a sensor that monitors moisture levels on the windscreen and triggers the demister system automatically when condensation builds up. It improves driver visibility and safety in damp or cold weather by preventing manual intervention. The sensor typically sits near the rear-view mirror, positioned to sense moisture accumulation on the glass surface.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook or ask your dealer's service centre whether your model includes an automatic defogging or moisture-sensing demister. Look near the rear-view mirror for a small sensor unit. Some vehicles display an indicator light or message on the dashboard when the system is active.

    Replacement impact

The defogging detector does not affect windscreen replacement or require recalibration after fitting. The sensor itself remains in place and continues to function once the new windscreen is installed. No additional calibration, cure time, or specialist procedures are needed.

About the Land Rover Discovery

The Land Rover Discovery has been in continuous production since 1989, evolving through five generations with significant changes to its windscreen specification and safety systems.

Earlier models carry straightforward laminated windscreens, whilst later Discoveries from the mid-2010s onwards feature rain sensors, acoustic interlayers, and solar-control glass as options. Many also include a VIN notch along the bottom edge — a small box displaying the chassis number.

From around 2017 onwards, the InControl driver assistance suite introduced front-facing cameras mounted at the windscreen, supporting Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning. These camera-equipped variants require static calibration after windscreen replacement, which is carried out by the specialist you're matched with.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Yes. We hold 28 variants of Discovery windscreens in our catalogue, spanning from 1989 to the present day. Older Discoveries typically have simpler glass (no rain sensors, cameras, or acoustic features), which makes them straightforward replacements. If your variant is in stock, we'll match it; if not, we'll tell you upfront during the quote.

The specialist carries out static camera calibration at a workshop after the glass is fitted and the adhesive has cured. Calibration ensures the front camera can correctly identify lane markings, vehicles, and hazards — essential for Lane Keep Assist and Collision Warning to work safely.

Calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't add to your drive-away time; the fitter will confirm when the vehicle is ready. Total time on the day depends on your specific InControl setup, but plan for a couple of hours from arrival to finish.

No. Acoustic glass is typically a premium or higher-trim option, found on around one-third of Discovery variants in our catalogue. Older and base-spec models have standard laminated glass without the noise-reduction interlayer. The quote will confirm whether your model includes acoustic glass as standard or as an option.

Solar-control glass is optional on many Discoveries and helps keep the cabin cooler by absorbing infrared rays from the sun. It's popular if you regularly park in direct sunlight or want to reduce air-conditioning load in summer. The specialist you're matched with can advise on whether it's available for your specific variant and whether the upgrade suits your needs.
