The BMW 8 Series spans three decades of engineering, from its 1991 launch through to today's modern G15 generation. Early models carry straightforward laminated windscreens, while newer variants feature increasingly sophisticated glass with acoustic lamination, rain sensors, and head-up display projection.
From the G15 generation onwards (2018+), most 8 Series models integrate front-facing cameras into the windscreen bracket as part of BMW's Driving Assistant suite. These camera systems require precise recalibration after windscreen replacement to ensure lane departure warning and adaptive cruise functions work safely.
Nearly all current 8 Series windscreens feature acoustic glass as standard, reducing road and wind noise. Many also carry encapsulated trim — a rubber gasket moulded directly onto the glass edges — which means the replacement arrives ready-fitted with its surround.
