The BMW 4 Series has been in continuous production since 2013, evolving through the F32/F33 generation (2013–2020) and the newer G26 platform (2021 onwards). Both generations carry laminated windscreens as standard, with a green tint that's subtle but present across all variants.
From the mid-2010s onwards, rain sensors became increasingly common, allowing automatic wiper activation in wet conditions. Camera systems for lane departure warning and ADAS functions appeared progressively across trim levels, requiring recalibration after windscreen replacement. Some models also feature head-up display, acoustic lamination for noise reduction, and solar-control glass to manage cabin heat.
Because of these evolving ADAS systems, windscreen replacement on a 4 Series often involves static and dynamic camera calibration to ensure lane-keeping assist and forward-sensing systems work safely after the new glass is fitted.
