Volkswagen Touran rear window price, by year

Prices vary with generation and trim specification. Variants with optional solar-control or acoustic glass carry higher costs than base-spec models. Encapsulated rear windows — with factory-bonded rubber trim — also involve slightly higher pricing due to the additional preparation required during fitting.

Good price- about 50 % of what I was quoted by Autoglass. Although UK Carglass sub contracted the work without my knowledge the sub contractor made early contact and kept me fully informed of when the window would be replaced. The guy who came out was prompt, did a good job cleaning up all the broken glass and left everything clean and tidy

What to expect during your Volkswagen Touran rear window replacement

Replacing your Touran's rear window follows a simple five-step process from quote to fitting.

  1. 1

Complete our quick online quote in under a minute using our guided quiz — we'll identify your exact variant and provide an instant price range.

  2. 2

Book your fitting at a time that suits you — mobile appointments at your address or workshop visits both available.

  3. 3

Our parts team carries out a final check on the glass specification before your appointment to confirm it matches your factory original.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your technician removes the shattered rear window, clears accessible glass shards, and installs your replacement glass. Typical job time is 30–60 minutes depending on your vehicle.

  5. 5

Your fitter will confirm the drive-away time before leaving. We recommend a professional valet afterwards for thorough interior detailing, as small shards can lodge in places hard to reach during the fit.

  6. 6

Your replacement comes with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality — contact us if any issues arise.

Book through UK Car Glass and you're matched with a local specialist approved for your Touran's requirements.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Touran?

Most Touran rear-window replacements are carried out at your address as a mobile appointment — there's no ADAS calibration required for rear glass. You can always choose a workshop visit instead if you prefer, and some technicians may recommend workshop fitting during poor weather or if shard cleanup proves more extensive than expected.

If you'd rather have the job done in a controlled environment with full equipment access, let us know at booking and we'll arrange a workshop slot with a nearby specialist.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your Touran have?

Tap a feature to see what it is, how to spot it on your car, and how it affects glass replacement. We confirm the exact match for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen7
    2003–2026

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on every one of the 7 rear window variants we list; model years 2003–2026.

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Antenna3
    2015–2026

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on 3 of the 7 rear window variants we list (43%); model years 2015–2026.

    What it means

An aerial laminated into the rear window for radio or DAB reception, replacing a traditional antenna system.

    On your Volkswagen Touran

Common on mid-range and higher trims from the mid-2010s onwards — confirmed during the quote process.

  • Green3
    2003–2026

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on 3 of the 7 rear window variants we list (43%); model years 2003–2026.

    What it means

A subtle green tint in the glass — almost invisible to the eye — that's part of the factory specification.

    On your Volkswagen Touran

Typical on Volkswagen vehicles; confirmed in the quote and matched in your replacement glass.

  • Grey Privacy3
    2010–2026

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on 3 of the 7 rear window variants we list (43%); model years 2010–2026.

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Solar Control2
    2003–2015

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on 2 of the 7 rear window variants we list (29%); model years 2003–2015.

    What it means

The glass absorbs infrared rays from the sun, reducing cabin heat and improving comfort in bright conditions.

    On your Volkswagen Touran

Available on higher-spec and comfort-focused trims — your technician will confirm whether your variant carries it.

  • Dark Green1
    2003–2010

On the Volkswagen Touran: fitted on 1 of the 7 rear window variants we list (14%); model years 2003–2010.

Dark green tinted rear and side glass that's noticeably darker than the front windscreen but still see-through in daylight.

    What it means

Dark green tint is a factory-applied colour to the rear window and side windows on some vehicles. It serves both aesthetic and functional purposes: it reduces glare and heat from sunlight, provides a degree of privacy without completely obscuring the interior, and contributes to the vehicle's overall design. Unlike privacy glass (which is much darker and difficult to see through from outside), dark green tint maintains reasonable transparency while still offering a tinted appearance.

    How to tell

Look at your rear window and rear side windows in daylight. If they appear noticeably darker and greenish in tone compared to your front windscreen, you have dark green tint. The tint will be clearly visible when you look at the vehicle from outside, but you'll still be able to see through to the interior in normal daylight. Check your vehicle documentation or ask your dealership if you're uncertain.

    Replacement impact

Replacement glass must match the original dark green tint specification to maintain the vehicle's appearance and light-control properties. We source OEM or OE-equivalent tinted glass to the correct colour specification. Tinted glass is available from stock for most common vehicles, though lead times may occasionally be slightly longer than untinted variants. Installation and cure procedures are identical to standard glass; tint does not affect fitting time or drive-away windows.

About the Volkswagen Touran

The Volkswagen Touran has been in continuous production since 2003, evolving through three generations as a family MPV. Early models carry straightforward toughened rear windows, while later generations from the mid-2010s onwards introduced optional features like solar-control and acoustic glass on higher trims.

Most Tourans feature dark-tinted rear side windows as standard, and around half of current variants carry factory-bonded hardware or antenna systems. Rear-window specifications vary by generation and trim level, but all replacements are matched to your original factory spec during our parts check.
