Renault Espace windscreen price, by year

Prices vary across Espace generations and trim levels, primarily driven by ADAS adoption and glass-feature complexity. Early-2010s models without cameras are more affordable to replace; later variants with forward-facing cameras and acoustic or heat-absorbing glass carry higher calibration and parts costs.

Encapsulated windscreens (where the trim arrives bonded to the glass) also influence pricing compared to standard replacements.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Renault Espace windscreen replacement

Your Espace windscreen replacement follows a straightforward five-stage process from quote to the road.

  1. 1

Complete an instant online quote via our guided widget — select your Espace model year and trim features in about 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Proceed to checkout and book your preferred date and location (mobile at your address or at a local workshop).

  3. 3

Our parts check team verifies your exact windscreen specification — features like acoustic glass, rain sensors, and any camera bracket requirements.

  4. 4

You're matched with an approved technician in your area who sources your replacement glass and carries out the fit, typically within 45–90 minutes for the technician's time on a non-ADAS job, or longer if static camera calibration is required.

  5. 5

For ADAS-equipped models, calibration runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time — your fitter confirms the exact timeline before you leave.

All replacements come with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Espace?

Most Espace windscreen replacements can be carried out at your home or workplace on a mobile basis. However, if your model includes a forward-facing camera for ADAS features, static calibration is required after the glass is fitted — and this must happen at a workshop with diagnostic equipment and target boards.

When calibration is needed, the entire job (replacement and calibration) is scheduled at the workshop location, not split across two visits. Your technician will confirm whether your specific Espace variant requires this before booking.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Vin Notch3
    1997–2026

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 3 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (75%); model years 1997–2026.

    What it means

A small printed box at the bottom of the windscreen displaying your vehicle's chassis number — a factory identification feature.

    On your Renault Espace

Present on nearly all modern Espace models; verified during the parts check.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)2
    2002–2026

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 2 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (50%); model years 2002–2026.

    What it means

Acoustic interlayer dampens road and wind noise inside the cabin — a comfort upgrade found on higher trims and later models.

    On your Renault Espace

Typically fitted on higher-specification trims; confirmed during the parts check once your variant is identified.

  • Green2
    1997–2026

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 2 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (50%); model years 1997–2026.

    What it means

A subtle factory tint in the windscreen glass, reducing glare and solar gain — most Espace owners don't notice it until replacement.

    On your Renault Espace

Confirmed during your parts check; most Espace variants from the mid-2000s onwards carry green-tinted glass.

  • Bronze1
    1988–1991

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 1988–1991.

Bronze tint reduces glare and heat whilst maintaining a warm aesthetic that complements most vehicle interiors.

    What it means

Bronze tint is a coloured coating applied to the windscreen during manufacture to reduce solar heat transmission and glare from sunlight. It's one of several standard tint options (alongside green, grey, and blue) offered by most vehicle makers. The tint doesn't impair visibility but gives the glass a warm, brownish appearance when viewed from outside. Most modern vehicles have some form of windscreen tint as standard—it's rarely a clear, untinted windscreen.

    How to tell

Roll down a side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind the glass from outside. If you see a bronze or warm-brown tint in the side window, your windscreen carries the same tint. Alternatively, ask your vehicle's dealer or service centre for the original windscreen specification—they can confirm the tint colour code. Most documentation refers to it as 'bronze' or occasionally 'warm bronze'.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with bronze tint, the replacement glass must match the original tint specification exactly. Fitting an untinted or differently tinted windscreen will create a noticeable colour mismatch with the side windows and alter the vehicle's interior light and thermal characteristics. We confirm the exact tint code from your vehicle's records and source an OE-equivalent or OEM glass to preserve the original appearance and performance.

  • Clear1
    2002–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 2002–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

Clear windscreen glass has no tint; most cars have a slight tint as standard.

    What it means

A clear windscreen contains no added tint layer. Most modern windscreens incorporate a subtle tint (typically blue, green, grey or bronze) as standard to reduce glare, provide UV protection, and improve cabin comfort. A genuinely clear windscreen is the absence of this tint. Clear glass is less common than tinted variants and is sometimes specified for aesthetic or operational reasons, though the tint difference is usually imperceptible to the naked eye.

    How to tell

Lower your side window halfway and hold a white piece of paper behind it. If you see a noticeable colour cast (blue, green, grey or bronze) in the side glass, your windscreen has the same tint. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre to confirm the windscreen specification in your service records.

    Replacement impact

Clear windscreen replacement uses the same installation process as any other windscreen. No special calibration or extended cure time applies. Sourcing is straightforward — clear glass is widely available as an aftermarket replacement. Installation time and drive-away restrictions follow standard windscreen replacement timings. If your vehicle has ADAS features (forward-facing camera or radar), calibration may be required after replacement depending on your specific vehicle; we confirm this when we look up your car details.

Calibration mix across our Renault variants

    • 1None

We confirm the exact procedure for your specific vehicle when you book.

  • Coating1
    2002–2026

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 2002–2026.

Coated windscreens have a blue or purple tint and protect your car from UV rays and heat.

    What it means

A coated windscreen has a special protective layer applied to the glass that appears as a blue or purple tint and often reflects a silvery-blue colour in bright sunlight. This coating is designed to reduce the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation and solar heat that enters the vehicle, helping to keep the interior cooler and protecting upholstery and dashboard components from UV damage and fading. The coating is integral to the glass and doesn't require any special maintenance from you.

    How to tell

Look at your windscreen in bright daylight — a coated windscreen will show a distinct blue or purple tint and a silvery-blue reflection when the sun hits it directly. Check your vehicle's service booklet or window sticker (usually on the driver's door jamb), which may list the glass specification. Alternatively, ask your dealership or service centre to confirm whether your windscreen carries a UV or heat-rejection coating.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a coated windscreen, the replacement glass must match the original specification — including the coating type and tint level — to maintain the same UV and heat protection and to preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Original-equipment or equivalent aftermarket coated glass is sourced to specification. The coating is applied during glass manufacture; no post-fit treatment is required. Fitting and cure times are unaffected by the presence of the coating.

  • Rain Sensor1
    2002–2026No calibration after replacement

On the Renault Espace: fitted on 1 of the 4 windscreen variants we list (25%); model years 2002–2026; no calibration after replacement.

    What it means

Detects rainfall and automatically triggers the wipers — a convenience feature that requires sensor preservation or reinstallation during replacement.

    On your Renault Espace

Fitted on many mid-2010s and later Espace models; your fitter will confirm whether your variant has this feature and ensure it functions after replacement.

About the Renault Espace

The Renault Espace has evolved through multiple generations since 1988, establishing itself as a spacious family MPV. Early models featured straightforward laminated windscreens, while later generations introduced comfort and safety upgrades including acoustic glass, rain sensors, and green-tinted options.

From the mid-2010s onwards, Espace variants began incorporating camera-equipped windscreens for forward-facing ADAS features. This means some current models require static camera calibration after replacement, completed indoors at a workshop with diagnostic equipment.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

No — only newer models equipped with a forward-facing camera for driver-assistance features require static calibration. Early-2010s and earlier Espace models typically have straightforward windscreens without this requirement.

Your parts check team will confirm whether your variant needs calibration once you've selected your model year and trim.

Rain sensors are preserved or reinstalled during the replacement process — your technician will ensure the sensor remains functional. The feature detection is part of our parts verification, so there's no additional cost or complexity.

Acoustic glass is a feature present on certain Espace trims, primarily higher-specification models. Replacement glass matches your factory specification, so if your variant includes acoustic glass, the replacement will too — the cost reflects this feature upgrade, which is determined during your parts check.

For non-ADAS models, the technician's active time is typically 45–90 minutes, depending on the variant and any additional features.

If your Espace requires static camera calibration (ADAS-equipped models), the job takes longer because calibration is completed after the glass is set. Your technician will provide a specific timeline when you book, and you'll receive the drive-away confirmation on the day.
