Mercedes SLK windscreen price, by year

Price variation across the seven SLK variants reflects generation and equipment differences. Early models without driver assistance systems are the most affordable; later models with rain sensors, acoustic glass, and camera-integrated ADAS systems carry higher calibration costs. Solar-control glass and acoustic lamination on premium trims also influence the final price.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Mercedes SLK windscreen replacement

Booking your Mercedes-Benz SLK windscreen replacement is straightforward — here's what happens from start to finish.

  1. 1

Complete an instant online quote using our guided variant quiz; no registration number needed.

  2. 2

Review your quote and book your preferred time and location (mobile at home or at a workshop).

  3. 3

Our parts-check team confirms your exact glass specification within 24 hours.

  4. 4

A fitter from our network arrives (or you visit a workshop) to replace the windscreen and, if required, perform static camera calibration.

  5. 5

If ADAS calibration is needed, it's completed at a workshop in a controlled environment — we never split the job across locations.

  6. 6

Your fitter confirms the drive-away time before leaving, and your two-year workmanship warranty begins immediately.

All replacements are covered by a two-year guarantee on workmanship and glass quality, with support from UKCG every step of the way.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your SLK?

Most SLK windscreen replacements can be arranged as a mobile visit to your home or workplace. However, if your model includes a camera-based Driver Assistance Package, the required static camera calibration must take place indoors at a controlled workshop location.

When calibration is needed, the entire job (replacement plus calibration) is scheduled at the workshop in a single visit — we don't split the work across two locations. This ensures safety-critical alignment is completed and verified before you drive away.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • TV Antenna2
    2010–2020

On the Mercedes SLK: fitted on 2 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2010–2020.

A TV-reception aerial printed into the rear window, typically for in-car entertainment systems.

    What it means

A TV antenna is an aerial pattern laminated into the rear windscreen or rear side window to receive broadcast television signals. It's a separate system from the vehicle's radio or mobile antenna and is typically found in vehicles equipped with rear-seat entertainment systems. The antenna is printed directly onto or into the glass during manufacture, so when the glass is replaced, the antenna pattern must be reproduced on the replacement to maintain reception quality.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or handbook for rear-seat entertainment or TV tuner capability. If your car has a rear-seat entertainment system with a TV tuner, the rear window will have a TV antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre to confirm whether your vehicle has this feature.

    Replacement impact

When the rear window is replaced, the replacement glass must include the matching TV antenna print to preserve reception. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) glass is typically required to ensure the antenna pattern is identical. The antenna is passive and requires no calibration or specialist procedures after fitting. Cure time for bonded rear glass is required; the fitter will confirm the drive-away time on the day.

  • Antenna1
    2010–2020

On the Mercedes SLK: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2010–2020.

An aerial laminated into the windscreen or rear window restores radio, DAB or TV reception without a roof-mounted mast.

    What it means

An antenna is a conductive print laminated into the glass during manufacture, typically used for radio, DAB (digital audio broadcasting) or television reception. It replaces the traditional roof-mounted aerial mast found on older vehicles. The antenna is integrated into the glass interlayer and connected to the vehicle's receiver unit via a connector embedded in the glass edge. This design offers a cleaner aesthetic, reduces wind noise, and eliminates the vulnerability of a protruding mast to damage or theft.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's roof — if there is no visible aerial mast, your car likely has a laminated antenna. You can also ask your dealer or service centre whether your windscreen or rear window carries an antenna print. The connector may be visible on the glass edge or inside the door frame trim.

    Replacement impact

When replacing glass with a laminated antenna, the replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector to restore reception immediately on fitting. Aftermarket or original-equipment glass with the correct antenna specification is essential; a plain replacement will leave you without radio or DAB signal. Our fitters verify the antenna specification during booking and source the correct variant before the appointment.

  • Bracket For Safety Features1
    2010–2020Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes SLK: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2010–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

  • Mono Camera1
    2010–2020Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Mercedes SLK: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2010–2020; calibration varies by vehicle.

A single camera mounted near the rear-view mirror that helps with lane-keeping and collision avoidance.

    What it means

A mono camera is a single-lens camera positioned behind the windscreen, typically in the upper centre area near the rear-view mirror. It captures the road ahead and uses computer vision to detect lane markings, vehicles, and road hazards. The camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and forward-collision warning. It forms the visual foundation of these safety features, allowing the vehicle to monitor road position and surrounding traffic automatically.

    How to tell

Look in the black trim area above the windscreen, centred behind the rear-view mirror — you will see a small triangular lens assembly or dark lens cover. Check your vehicle handbook or ask your dealer's service department to confirm your model has lane-assistance or collision-warning features; vehicles with these systems almost always have a mono camera. Dashboard warning symbols related to lane or collision systems also indicate the presence of this camera.

    Replacement impact

When the windscreen is replaced, the camera bracket and lens assembly must be removed and carefully repositioned on the new glass. The camera may require calibration after fitting to ensure accurate road detection and lane recognition. Calibration needs vary by vehicle — we confirm the exact procedure when we look up your specific vehicle. The job may take longer than a standard windscreen replacement, and workshop facilities may be required if calibration demands a controlled environment.

  • Static Camera Calibration Process1
    2010–2020Static calibration required

On the Mercedes SLK: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 2010–2020; static calibration required.

    What it means

A specialist procedure performed indoors with the vehicle stationary, using printed targets at precise distances to align the forward-facing camera after windscreen replacement.

    On your Mercedes SLK

Required on SLK variants equipped with the Driver Assistance Package camera systems; always performed by certified technicians at a workshop.

About the Mercedes SLK

The Mercedes-Benz SLK has been in production since 1996, evolving through multiple generations as a compact, convertible sports car. Early SLK windscreens were straightforward laminated units, while later generations added rain sensors and refined acoustic interlayers to reduce cabin noise.

From the early 2020s onwards, newer variants in our catalogue feature camera systems mounted behind the windscreen as part of Mercedes' Driver Assistance Package, alongside rain sensors and solar-control glass on select trim levels. These models require static camera calibration after windscreen replacement — a specialist procedure that ensures lane-keeping and collision-detection systems function safely.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

If your model includes the Driver Assistance Package with a forward-facing windscreen camera, yes — static calibration is mandatory after replacement. This specialist procedure aligns the camera to factory specifications so lane-keeping and collision-detection systems work safely.

The fitter and our parts-check team will confirm whether calibration applies to your specific variant during the booking and quote process.

Windscreen replacement alone can be arranged as a mobile visit. If your SLK requires camera calibration, the entire job is scheduled at a workshop — replacement and calibration happen together in one visit, typically taking longer than a standard windscreen fit.

We don't split jobs across locations because safety-critical calibration must be completed and verified before drive-away.

Non-ADAS windscreen replacements typically take 45–90 minutes of the fitter's time, depending on your vehicle's condition. Models equipped with camera systems take longer because static calibration is completed after the glass is set.

Your fitter will confirm the specific duration and drive-away time on the day.

Early SLK models (1996–early 2010s) carried basic laminated windscreens with simple VIN notches. Mid-generation models added rain sensors and acoustic glass options on higher trims. From the early 2020s, newer SLK variants integrated forward-facing cameras for driver assistance systems, bringing the requirement for specialist calibration after replacement.

Our parts-check team identifies your exact generation and equipment during the quote process, ensuring the correct replacement specification.
