The Kia Optima has been in continuous production since 2011, evolving through multiple generations and becoming a fixture in the mid-size saloon market. Most variants carry a green-tinted windscreen as standard, while rain sensors are fitted to the vast majority of models to automate wiper activation in wet weather.
From the mid-2010s onwards, Optima windscreens began incorporating additional comfort and safety features — blue sun strips to reduce glare, heated wiper rest areas for defrosting, and on many variants, heated windscreens themselves. Solar-control glass, which absorbs infrared rays to keep the interior cooler, appears on select higher-spec models.
Modern Optimas equipped with Kia DriveWise ADAS technology feature a forward-facing camera mounted behind the windscreen for lane-departure warning and forward-collision avoidance. These camera-equipped variants require static calibration after windscreen replacement to ensure the safety systems function correctly.
