Audi A1 windscreen price, by year

Price variation across A1 variants depends primarily on generation and ADAS equipment. Earlier models without cameras are typically the most affordable; mid-generation models with rain sensors and solar glass carry moderate variation. Later models with forward-facing camera systems and calibration requirements are usually higher, as calibration adds workshop time and diagnostic equipment costs.

Called me the day before my appointment to reschedule for an additional 4 day delay and raise the price from the initial quote. Expensive, especially considering they use non-OEM glass.

Drivers window fix - Technician Martyn

A technician named Martyn was sent to fix my drivers window after I locked my keys in my car and unfortunately had to break the window to get them. Martyn was very friendly, polite and professional. He hoovered up the glass in and by the door before refitting the new glass. I would highly recommended this company. Great service and cheapest quote with best quality. Thank you 5*

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Audi A1 windscreen replacement

Booking your A1 windscreen replacement through UK Car Glass is straightforward and takes just a few minutes.

  1. 1

Complete a quick online quote using our guided widget — takes about a minute and covers your A1's specific variant, generation, and features like camera systems or rain sensors.

  2. 2

We check our parts network to confirm your exact glass specification matches your vehicle's factory build.

  3. 3

You're matched with an approved technician in your area — most jobs are mobile at your address, though ADAS-equipped A1s requiring calibration are scheduled at a workshop.

  4. 4

On fitting day, the technician removes your old windscreen, prepares the frame, and bonds the replacement using vehicle-specific adhesive.

  5. 5

For camera-equipped A1s, static calibration is completed at the workshop using alignment targets — this runs in parallel with adhesive cure, so it doesn't extend your drive-away time.

  6. 6

Your technician confirms the minimum drive-away time before you leave, and your replacement comes with a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

Throughout the process, you'll have direct contact with your technician and our booking team for any questions.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your A1?

Most A1 windscreen replacements can be completed mobile at your address. However, if your A1 is equipped with a forward-facing camera for lane assist or pre sense — common on models from 2016 onwards — static calibration is required after the glass is fitted. This must be done indoors at a workshop using alignment target boards and diagnostic tools, so your entire job (replacement and calibration) is scheduled at one location.

Your technician will confirm whether your specific A1 variant needs calibration during the booking process.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Grey Sun Strip9
    2009–2026

On the Audi A1: fitted on 9 of the 15 windscreen variants we list (60%); model years 2009–2026.

A grey-tinted band across the top of your windscreen that reduces glare from sunlight and reflections above.

    What it means

A grey sun strip is a tinted gradient band built into the top edge of the windscreen during manufacture. It sits within the laminated glass layers and gradually fades from opaque grey at the very top to clear further down. The strip is designed to reduce glare and reflections from sunlight, street lights, and oncoming headlights, improving comfort and visibility for the driver without obstructing the view of traffic signals or overhead hazards. Sun strips are a factory-applied feature unique to windscreens—they cannot be added to side or rear glass because those are typically toughened rather than laminated.

    How to tell

Look at the top of your windscreen from inside the vehicle. You will see a grey-tinted band that fades to clear glass. The tint is gradual and integral to the glass itself, not a removable film or coating. Your vehicle's service records or handbook may also list it as a standard feature. If unsure, ask your dealer or service centre whether your specific model includes a sun strip.

    Replacement impact

When replacing a windscreen with a sun strip, the replacement glass must be sourced in the exact matching variant—including the sun-strip tint and fade profile. Aftermarket and OE glass are both available for most vehicles, but the variant must be correct to match your original. There is no calibration required for the sun strip itself. If your windscreen also carries camera or sensor features, those will be calibrated separately according to your vehicle's needs.

  • Camera5
    2018–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Audi A1: fitted on 5 of the 15 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 2018–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

A camera mounted near the rear-view mirror monitors the road ahead for lane-keep and traffic-sign features.

    What it means

A forward-facing camera positioned in the windscreen header area (typically mounted on or near the rear-view mirror bracket) captures video of the road ahead. This camera feeds data to driver-assistance systems such as lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition. The camera is a core component of modern ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and requires precise alignment after windscreen replacement to ensure these safety features function correctly.

    How to tell

Look for a small dark triangular or lens-shaped component mounted in the black plastic trim area above the windscreen, typically centred near the rear-view mirror or slightly to one side. Your vehicle's handbook or infotainment menu may reference 'Lane Assist', 'Traffic Sign Recognition', or 'Autonomous Emergency Braking'. Ask your dealer or service centre directly if your car is equipped with a forward-facing camera system.

    Replacement impact

Windscreen replacement on camera-equipped vehicles requires calibration of the camera system after the new glass is fitted. The exact calibration procedure—whether static (using a target board in a controlled environment) or dynamic (road-based)—varies by vehicle make, model, and year. We confirm the precise calibration requirement when we look up your specific vehicle. Calibration ensures lane-keep, sign recognition, and emergency-braking systems function safely. This may extend the fitting schedule and may necessitate workshop-based fitting rather than mobile attendance.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)3
    2010–2020

On the Audi A1: fitted on 3 of the 15 windscreen variants we list (20%); model years 2010–2020.

Acoustic glass reduces cabin noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride.

    What it means

Acoustic windscreen glass is laminated with a special acoustic interlayer that absorbs and dampens sound vibrations. It reduces exterior noise—from traffic, wind, and road surface—before it enters the passenger compartment. This makes the cabin noticeably quieter and creates a more peaceful driving experience. It's a comfort feature, not a safety one; standard laminated windscreens already meet impact safety requirements.

    How to tell

Check your windscreen for an ear symbol, the word 'Acoustic', a capital 'A', or the term 'SoundScreen' printed in one of the four corners. These markings indicate acoustic-grade glass. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre whether your model came fitted with acoustic glass—it's often a factory option on comfort or premium trims.

    Replacement impact

Acoustic glass is always laminated and bonds to the frame like any standard windscreen, so replacement follows the normal bonded-glass procedure. No specialist calibration is required. The replacement technician will fit it using standard adhesive and sealant. Cure time and drive-away restrictions are identical to standard laminated windscreens. Acoustic glass is widely available as an aftermarket OE-equivalent option.

  • Bracket For Safety Features3
    2018–2026Calibration varies by vehicle

On the Audi A1: fitted on 3 of the 15 windscreen variants we list (20%); model years 2018–2026; calibration varies by vehicle.

The moulded trim that surrounds your camera and sensor cluster at the top of the windscreen, typically transferred or supplied with replacement glass.

    What it means

A bracket for safety features is the moulded plastic or composite shroud that sits at the top of the windscreen, framing and protecting the camera and sensor cluster mounted behind the rear-view mirror. This trim cover houses forward-facing driver-assistance cameras and sensors — equipment that monitors the road ahead for lane-keeping, collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and similar safety functions. The bracket itself is part of the vehicle's structural frame, but the trim cover you see is what protects and aesthetically integrates the technology into the windscreen area.

    How to tell

Look at the top centre of your windscreen, just above or around the rear-view mirror. If you see a dark moulded shroud or trim panel — often rectangular or tapered — with a visible lens or sensor window, your vehicle has a bracket for safety features. Your service history or handbook will list any ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technologies fitted. Ask your dealer or service centre if your vehicle has forward-facing cameras or sensors; if it does, you have a bracket for safety features.

    Replacement impact

On windscreen replacement, the trim cover is typically transferred from your old glass to the new one, or supplied pre-integrated with the replacement depending on the variant. This means minimal disruption to your safety system during the swap. However, if the bracket requires recalibration after glass replacement — which depends on your specific vehicle and camera type — the job may require static calibration (using a target board) or dynamic calibration (a road drive). We confirm the exact calibration procedure when we look up your vehicle.

    What it means

After windscreen replacement, the forward-facing camera must be precisely re-aligned indoors using printed target boards and diagnostic equipment — a safety-critical procedure for ADAS systems.

    On your Audi A1

Required on camera-equipped A1 models; performed at a workshop as part of your booking, included in the service.

Heated zones around sensors prevent frost and moisture buildup, helping your safety systems work reliably.

    What it means

A sensor heated zone is an electrical heating element integrated into or around camera, radar, or sensor mounts on the windscreen. Its purpose is to prevent frost, ice, condensation, and moisture accumulation on sensor lenses and housings. This keeps safety systems — such as lane-keeping assist, collision warning, and adaptive cruise control — functioning accurately in cold, wet, or foggy conditions. Without this heating, moisture or ice can obscure sensors and cause them to malfunction or deactivate.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's handbook for mention of 'heated sensor zone' or 'sensor heating' in the windscreen or ADAS section. Look at the top edge of your windscreen where cameras or radar modules are mounted — you may see small heating elements or wiring near these components. Ask your dealership or service centre directly: they can confirm whether your specific model includes sensor heating as standard.

    Replacement impact

Windscreens with heated sensor zones require careful handling during replacement to preserve the heating element and its electrical connections. The heating circuit must be reconnected properly after the new glass is fitted. Depending on the vehicle, this may involve static or dynamic camera calibration after installation. We confirm the exact procedure — including any calibration needs — when we look up your vehicle details.

About the Audi A1

The Audi A1 has been in continuous production since 2010, evolving through three generations with increasingly sophisticated glass and driver-assistance technology. Early models feature straightforward laminated windscreens with green tint and VIN notch; from the mid-2010s onwards, solar-control glass and rain sensors became common, reducing glare and automating wiper activation.

From around 2016, newer A1 variants began incorporating forward-facing cameras behind the windscreen to support Audi pre sense front, active lane assist, and traffic sign recognition. These camera-equipped models require static calibration after windscreen replacement — a process carried out indoors at a workshop using printed alignment targets. Most current A1s fall into this ADAS era, meaning your replacement will include camera bracket work and calibration.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

If your A1 is equipped with a forward-facing camera (visible as a small triangular shape in the black surround near the rear-view mirror), calibration is required. This is standard on most newer A1 variants from around 2016 onwards and is performed at a workshop using printed target boards — it's included in your service and doesn't extend your drive-away time because it runs in parallel with adhesive cure.

Solar-control glass is fitted to roughly 91% of A1 variants in our catalogue and will be matched to your factory specification. If your A1 originally came with solar glass, your replacement will too — it's confirmed during the quote.

Mobile replacement at your address is the default for all A1 bookings. If your model requires camera calibration (common on 2016+ variants), the entire job is scheduled at a workshop so calibration can be completed in a controlled environment. Your technician confirms the location and timing during booking.

Older A1 models (pre-2015) typically feature straightforward laminated glass with green tint and a VIN notch. Mid-generation A1s (2015–2018) added solar-control coatings and rain sensors. Newer A1s (2016+) introduced forward-facing cameras and ADAS bracket mounts, requiring post-replacement calibration at a workshop.
