Hyundai ix20 rear window price, by year

Rear-window replacement costs vary primarily with generation and whether tinting options are fitted. Earlier ix20 models without specialist tints are typically the most straightforward; later variants with dark or green-tinted glass may incur slightly higher costs due to the need for colour-matched specification during sourcing.

5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Hyundai ix20 rear window replacement

Booking your ix20 rear-window replacement is straightforward, from initial quote through to fitting day.

  1. 1

Answer a few quick questions about your ix20 (year, trim, any visible tinting) to get an instant quote.

  2. 2

Complete your booking online in under two minutes — choose your preferred date and location.

  3. 3

Our team verifies the exact rear-window specification for your variant and matches you with a local technician.

  4. 4

The fitter arrives with the replacement glass and completes the job in typically 30–60 minutes, including shard cleanup from the original window.

  5. 5

A shattered rear window means broken glass can lodge in hard-to-reach places — we recommend a professional valet afterwards for a thorough interior clean.

  6. 6

Your replacement is backed by a two-year warranty covering workmanship and glass quality.

Once the job is complete, your fitter will confirm the minimum drive-away time before you leave.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your ix20?

Most rear-window replacements on the ix20 are carried out mobile at your address — the fitter arrives with the glass and completes the work in your driveway or car park. Because rear-window replacement does not involve ADAS calibration, workshop attendance is not required on safety grounds.

The decision between mobile and workshop fitting is yours; either way, shard cleanup is a major part of the job, and we always recommend a professional valet afterwards to tackle shards that may lodge in seats, trim channels, and other hard-to-reach areas.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen2
    2010–2020

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Dark Grey1
    2010–2020

A tinted grey glass that's darker than the front windows but still lets you see through in daylight.

    What it means

Dark grey tint is a factory-fitted glass option that reduces glare and heat whilst maintaining visibility in normal daylight conditions. It sits between clear glass (front windscreen and windows) and privacy glass (rear windows on some models), offering a subtle aesthetic enhancement and mild thermal benefit. The tint is integral to the glass laminate or coating and cannot be applied or removed after manufacture.

    How to tell

Look at your rear window or rear side windows in daylight. If they appear noticeably darker than your front windscreen but you can still see clearly through them from outside, you have dark grey tint.

    Replacement impact

When replacing dark grey glass, the replacement must match the original tint specification to maintain consistency with your vehicle's remaining windows and factory thermal performance. Dark grey tint is specified at manufacture and must be sourced as OEM or OE-equivalent glass; standard clear replacements will not match. No calibration is required for this glass type.

  • Green1
    2010–2020

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

About the Hyundai ix20

The Hyundai ix20 is a compact crossover produced from 2010 to 2020, blending family practicality with urban manoeuvrability. Rear windows across the production run are typically toughened glass, designed to shatter safely if impacted.

Earlier ix20 models carry straightforward rear glazing, while later variants from the mid-2010s onwards may feature tinted options to enhance privacy and reduce solar heat gain. Hyundai's SmartSense ADAS suite — which includes lane-keeping and forward collision avoidance — relies on a front-mounted camera system that requires calibration when the windscreen is replaced, though rear-window replacement itself does not trigger this work.
