BMW X1 rear window price, by year

Rear-window pricing varies with generation and equipment level. Earlier X1 models without integrated antennas are typically more affordable; newer variants with antenna and heated-glass features carry higher costs due to the complexity of sourcing and fitting matched replacements. Heated-element glass in particular requires precise handling to avoid damage during installation.

Uk Glass better than our insurers preferred supplier.

Our insurer wanted us to use their preferred supplier, but they could not fix our windscreen for over 2 weeks. UK Glass could do it within 4 days. Their communication with us was first rate and the job was done as arranged by some excellent fitters. The price was competitive too. was excellent

What to expect during your BMW X1 rear window replacement

Booking your rear-window replacement through UKCG is straightforward — most jobs complete in a couple of hours.

  1. 1

Answer our quick quiz to identify your exact X1 variant and confirm your rear-window features — takes about a minute.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote matched to your generation and equipment level.

  3. 3

Complete your booking online and choose your preferred date and location — mobile fitting at your address or a workshop visit.

  4. 4

On the day, your fitter removes the shattered glass and installs the matched replacement, with shard cleanup included.

  5. 5

Shattered rear-window jobs leave small glass fragments in places fitters can't always reach on the day — we recommend a professional valet afterwards for a thorough interior clean.

  6. 6

Your replacement is covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Book now and get your rear window sorted with a trusted local fitter in your area.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your X1?

Most X1 rear-window replacements are fitted mobile at your address, as the job doesn't require complex calibration like windscreen work does. However, if you prefer a workshop environment or need convenience with other work, you can always book a workshop fitting instead. Your fitter will manage shard cleanup and any accessible interior glass fragments on the day — a professional valet afterwards ensures thorough detailing of harder-to-reach areas.

What features does your X1 have?

  • Antenna4
    2009–2026

On the BMW X1: fitted on every one of the 4 rear window variants we list; model years 2009–2026.

    What it means

An aerial laminated into the rear glass for radio and DAB reception — replacement must carry the matching antenna print and connector.

    On your BMW X1

Confirmed during your parts check after booking — the fitter verifies the antenna integration before ordering your glass.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen4
    2009–2026

On the BMW X1: fitted on every one of the 4 rear window variants we list; model years 2009–2026.

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Green2
    2010–2026

On the BMW X1: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2010–2026.

    What it means

A light tint in the rear glass that's often hard to spot — roughly 90 per cent of all glass has this subtle colouration.

    On your BMW X1

Look carefully at the rear glass in direct sunlight — some X1 trims have this tint, others don't. Confirmed at your quote.

  • Grey Privacy2
    2009–2026

On the BMW X1: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2009–2026.

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Solar Control2
    2010–2026

On the BMW X1: fitted on 2 of the 4 rear window variants we list (50%); model years 2010–2026.

    What it means

The glass is coated to absorb the sun's infrared rays, keeping the interior cooler on hot days — a premium comfort feature.

    On your BMW X1

Typically fitted to higher-spec trims and later generations; confirmed during the parts check.

About the BMW X1

The BMW X1 has been in continuous production since 2009, evolving through multiple generations with increasingly sophisticated rear-window technology. Early models carry straightforward toughened rear glass, while later variants feature integrated antennas and heated elements as standard.

From the mid-2010s onwards, many X1 variants gained antenna elements built into the rear liftgate glass — a feature that must be preserved during replacement. Some higher trims also include heated rear glass, which requires specialist knowledge to fit correctly without damaging the heating element.
