The Volkswagen Beetle spanned nearly thirteen years of continuous production from 1999 to 2011, covering multiple generations and facelifts that shaped how its rear window was engineered.
Earlier Beetles came with straightforward toughened rear glass, while later models introduced encapsulated trim — a pre-bonded gasket moulded directly onto the glass edges at the factory. This design simplifies replacement but requires the trim to be fitted as one sealed unit.
Throughout its run, the Beetle's rear window carried a faint green tint, a characteristic of most automotive glass that's rarely noticed but standard across virtually all variants in our catalogue.
