Pricing varies primarily by generation and the presence of optional tinting or fitting hardware. Earlier Aygos from the first generation are the most affordable, while later models with grey or green tints and upgraded hardware carry slightly higher costs due to increased parts specification and sourcing variation.

My windscreen cracked and I was really…

My windscreen cracked and I was really struggling to find anyone who could fix it quicker than 2 weeks. Then I came across UK Car Glass online and was pleased to find that not only could they fit me in within a few days but also at literally half the cost the everywhere else ( including big companies like auto glass ) ! I booked in and Steve cake out to fix my car. The service was fantastic and so efficient . I didn’t need to stop working ( I was working from home ) , I got a call to tell me when they were on their way and passed them my keys when they got here and 25 minutes later the windscreen was replaced and the car was good as new ! I’m so pleased with this service, I will recommend it to everyone I know ☺️

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Toyota Aygo rear window replacement

Booking your Aygo rear-window replacement through UK Car Glass is straightforward and mobile-friendly.

  1. 1

Answer a short quiz about your Aygo's year and features—typically under 60 seconds—to get an instant quote.

  2. 2

Complete your booking online with your preferred date and location; the whole process takes under two minutes.

  3. 3

Our parts-check team confirms your exact rear-window variant matches our supply chain.

  4. 4

A local technician from our network is matched to your job and arranges a convenient fitting time.

  5. 5

Your fitter attends mobile (usually at your home or workplace) and completes the replacement in typically 30–60 minutes, depending on the vehicle.

  6. 6

A shattered rear window means shard cleanup is part of the job. Your fitter removes accessible broken glass, but we recommend a professional valet afterwards for thorough detailing—small shards can lodge in places harder to reach during the fit.

Your replacement glass is covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality, with 24/7 support available if you need us.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Aygo?

Most Aygo rear-window replacements are completed mobile at your home or workplace—no workshop visit needed. Since the Aygo does not feature advanced driver-assistance systems on the rear window, there is no calibration requirement. Your fitter will arrange a time that suits you and complete the job typically within 30–60 minutes.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Heated Rear Windscreen5
    2005–2022

Heated rear windscreen with integrated wires clears mist and ice when you switch on the demister.

    What it means

A heated rear windscreen contains fine heating wires embedded within the glass. When you activate the rear demister, an electrical current passes through these wires, warming the glass and melting ice or condensation. This feature is particularly useful in cold or damp weather, improving rear visibility quickly. The heating grid is integral to the glass and connected to your vehicle's electrical circuit via connectors at the base of the windscreen.

    How to tell

Look at the rear windscreen from inside the vehicle — you will see a fine grid of horizontal lines across the glass, typically bronze or copper in colour. On the dashboard or steering wheel stalk, there will be a dedicated rear-demist button, usually marked with a windscreen symbol and heating lines. If in doubt, ask your vehicle's service centre or consult your handbook.

    Replacement impact

Replacement rear windscreens with heated grids are widely available as original-equipment aftermarket or dealership parts. The new glass must include the factory heating grid and electrical connectors intact. The technician will reconnect the heating circuit to your vehicle's rear-demist switch. Heated rear windscreens are bonded glass, so adhesive cure time applies; drive-away time will be confirmed by the fitter on the day.

  • Open5
    2005–2022

An opening pane with hinged hardware, typically on rear quarters or van sides.

    What it means

An opening glass pane is a hinged or pivoting section of bodyglass designed to swing or tilt outward for ventilation or access. Commonly found on rear quarters of estates or vans, and on van side panels. Unlike fixed side windows or windscreens, opening panes are part of the vehicle's passive ventilation system and allow airflow without opening a door or window. The hinge and frame hardware are integral to the feature's function.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's side and rear quarter panels for hinged glass sections that swing outward. Ask your dealer or service centre whether your model includes rear quarter vents or van-side opening panels. Your handbook will list ventilation features. Opening panes are visually distinct from sliding or rolling windows — they pivot on visible hinges rather than moving vertically or horizontally.

    Replacement impact

UKCG handles opening-pane replacement on a bespoke basis — please contact us for a quote rather than using the automated quote tool. Replacement includes the glass pane and matching hinge hardware where supplied. Fitting time is typically brief as there is no adhesive cure or calibration required. The pane is held in place by mechanical hinges and seals, so you can use the vehicle immediately after fitting.

  • Green3
    2005–2018

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Grey Privacy2
    2011–2022

Dark grey tint on rear windows provides privacy and reduces interior heat and glare.

    What it means

Dark grey tint, formally known as privacy glass, is a factory-applied tint created through a deep-dipping process during glass manufacture. The pigment is infused into the inner surface of the glass, darkening the rear windows (and sometimes rear doors) significantly more than the front. This reduces heat transmission, minimises glare, and obscures the interior from outside view. It's standard on the rear half of many modern vehicles.

    How to tell

Compare the rear side windows and rear window (backlight) to the front side windows — the rear glass will be noticeably darker. Check your vehicle documents or ask your dealership service centre if you're unsure whether your car left the factory with privacy glass.

    Replacement impact

Dark grey tinted glass must be sourced from the Original Equipment Equivalent (OEE) or dealership to ensure colour and transmission match your vehicle's existing rear glass. The tint is integral to the glass itself, not a surface coating, so aftermarket non-tinted glass will look visibly mismatched. Replacement does not require any calibration and follows standard bonded-glass cure times for rear windows.

  • Solar Control1
    2014–2018

Solar control glass absorbs infrared rays to reduce heat and improve cabin comfort.

    What it means

Solar control is a coating applied to the windscreen that absorbs the sun's infrared radiation rather than allowing it to pass through into the cabin. This reduces solar heat gain, helping to keep the interior cooler and more comfortable, particularly in warm weather or direct sunlight. The coating is transparent to visible light, so it doesn't darken the windscreen or affect visibility. It's a passive thermal management feature that works continuously whenever the sun is shining on the glass.

    How to tell

Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact your dealership service centre to confirm whether solar control glass is fitted. Some manufacturers list it as 'solar control windscreen', 'heat-reflective glass', or 'thermal management glass'. It's a factory-fitted feature and won't be visibly obvious from outside the car — the coating is integral to the glass itself.

    Replacement impact

Solar control glass is a factory-fitted specification. When replacing the windscreen, a solar control variant must be sourced to match the original. This is a standard glass type with no special fitting implications or calibration requirements. Cure and drive-away times follow normal windscreen bonding procedures. Confirm with your fitter that the replacement glass includes solar control to maintain the original thermal performance.

About the Toyota Aygo

The Toyota Aygo has been in continuous production since 2005, evolving through three generations with modest but steady refinements. Early models carry straightforward toughened rear windows with simple hardware, while later variants introduced optional tinting and improved sealing hardware.

Rear-window replacement on the Aygo is relatively straightforward—the glass is typically toughened and held in place with clips and adhesive, without the complexity of camera brackets or advanced driver systems. Most variants share consistent fitment hardware across their generation.
