About this area

Edinburgh's drivers span across 47 postcode districts, with the strongest concentration in the EH54, EH47, and EH14 areas. Most journeys centre on Edinburgh itself, with a typical commute of around 9.7 miles taking roughly 24 minutes—a manageable distance for the city's mixed urban and suburban character. This mix of central and edge-of-city locations means windscreen damage can strike anywhere from the historic New Town to the outer residential reaches, often at inconvenient moments.

Volkswagen, Ford, and Audi dominate the local vehicle population, alongside steady numbers of Vauxhall, BMW, and Mercedes owners. Whether you're dealing with a stone chip on the bypass or a crack picked up during city-centre parking, booking through UK Car Glass connects you with experienced fitters across the Edinburgh area who understand the region's roads and weather patterns. Every job comes with a two-year workmanship warranty, giving you confidence in the repair.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

Vauxhall Antara

Easy process online & Great service

Easy process online for the part I needed. Came nice and early on the booked day, only took 30 mins to replace. The part looks brand new exactly like the original. Friendly service will use again if needed and I will recommend your service to others. Thank you.

Vauxhall Astra-GTC

A good windscreen supplier!

I purchased a car with a declared defect (chip on windscreen not affecting driver's view) and had to get a new screen as the chip proved not to be repairable. UK car glass gave a good quote (MUCH less than Autoglass!) and delivered and fitted the screen next day very efficiently. No gripes at all with this service.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.
