5 stars from start to finish

I received an instant quote from UK Car Glass, £200 cheaper than a competitor for a full windscreen replacement. Booked it, technician arrived when he said he would, communication throughout was outstanding and the work done was top notch. I couldn't fault the service I received, 5 stars.

Booking on line took order and confirmed the window screen replacement for this Tuesday, arranged to travel and take time from work only to get an email today to say can not be done until next week. Terrible service (or lack of service)

Misleading pricing practice

I submitted the details of my vehicle including license plate (from which they can get the VIN) and was given a quote for a replacement windscreen with calibration and home installation. It was a good price compared to competitors and the technician would have been able to repair at home. I accepted the quote and made payment for £889.11, and waited for the confirmation of date and time of installment. 18 hours later I received a call saying that a technician would be able to come out tomorrow to install, however the price quoted was incorrect and in fact it would be £200 more expensive as they got the windscreen part number wrong. Very annoying and potentially misleading pricing practice. I told them to recredit my card and that I would look elsewhere

What to expect during your Scania S-Series windscreen replacement

Replacing your Scania S-Series windscreen is a structured process from quote to fitting.

  1. 1

Book your replacement through our online widget — the guided quiz identifies your exact variant in under a minute.

  2. 2

Our team runs a parts check to confirm glass availability and any sensor or bracket requirements specific to your vehicle.

  3. 3

We match you with an approved fitter in your area who specialises in HGV glass replacement and can work around your operational schedule.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your fitter removes the damaged windscreen, prepares the frame, and sets the replacement glass with adhesive matched to ambient conditions.

  5. 5

The fitter confirms your minimum drive-away time before leaving — typically a few hours while the bond cures, depending on the adhesive and weather.

  6. 6

You're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Commercial operators trust our network because we understand HGV downtime — fitters coordinate scheduling to minimise disruption to your work.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your S-Series?

Most Scania S-Series windscreen replacements are completed mobile at your premises, where your fitter has room to work safely and your vehicle remains operational. If weather conditions are poor or site access is restricted, your fitter may suggest a workshop venue — always a specialist in HGV glass who can accommodate large vehicles.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

  • Green1
    2016–2026

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.

  • Rain Sensor1
    2016–2026No calibration after replacement

Your wipers automatically activate when rain falls on the windscreen.

    What it means

A rain sensor is a device mounted on or behind the windscreen that detects moisture and triggers the wiper system automatically. The sensor uses infrared light to measure water droplets on the glass surface and signals the vehicle's electrical system to engage the wipers without driver input. This feature improves safety in sudden downpours and reduces driver workload in variable weather conditions.

    How to tell

Check your windscreen for a small sensor unit, usually mounted near the top centre behind the glass or at the base of the mirror. Look for a small dark component or lens. If your vehicle has automatic wipers that activate without you toggling the stalk, you have a rain sensor. Ask your dealer or service centre to confirm; they can check your vehicle records or wiper module settings.

    Replacement impact

Rain sensors are non-structural elements and do not require recalibration after windscreen replacement. The sensor bracket or mounting may need careful removal and reinstallation to ensure it sits correctly behind the new glass. If the sensor itself is damaged during removal, a replacement unit may be needed. Your fitter will confirm the condition and refit or replace the sensor as part of the standard replacement procedure.

About the Scania S-Series

The Scania S-Series is a heavy-duty HGV platform built for long-haul and demanding commercial work, with production spanning from 2016 onwards. The windscreen on these vehicles is a critical safety component, bearing significant structural load and integrating multiple sensor and wiper systems.

All S-Series windscreens in our catalogue feature green-tinted glass — a near-invisible tint that reduces glare and UV exposure for extended cab journeys — paired with a rain sensor that automatically adjusts wiper speed according to weather conditions. These features are standard across the variants we service.
