MG HS windscreen price, by year

Price variation on the MG HS is minimal because the model range is consistent and all variants carry the same camera and encapsulation spec. The main driver is ADAS recalibration complexity — the technician's equipment and workshop availability can influence the overall cost. Specialist technicians on our network typically source from tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your MG HS windscreen replacement

From your initial quote through to driving away, here's what the windscreen replacement process looks like.

  1. 1

Answer a quick online quiz about your HS (year, features) to confirm the exact windscreen specification — typically under 60 seconds.

  2. 2

Receive an instant quote and choose your fitting date and location (mobile at your address or at a workshop near you).

  3. 3

Our team matches you with a specialist technician in your area and confirms all the details before the day.

  4. 4

On fitting day, your technician removes the old windscreen, transfers the bracket and trim cover, and fits the new glass with fresh encapsulated seals.

  5. 5

The camera is then recalibrated using specialist equipment — this happens in parallel with the adhesive cure, so it doesn't delay your drive-away.

  6. 6

Your technician confirms the minimum drive-away time before they leave, and you're covered by a two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

Mobile or workshop, the process is straightforward and supported from start to finish.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your HS?

All MG HS models require ADAS camera recalibration after windscreen replacement, and this is best completed in a controlled workshop environment using static target boards. Because UKCG doesn't split jobs across locations, your HS windscreen replacement and recalibration will be scheduled at a workshop near you.

The good news: recalibration runs in parallel with the adhesive cure, so the total job time and your drive-away time remain comparable to a non-ADAS replacement. Your technician will confirm the exact drive-away time before you leave.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your HS have?

Tap a feature to see what it is, how to spot it on your car, and how it affects glass replacement. We confirm the exact match for your vehicle when you book.

  • Acoustic (Noise reduction)2
    2020–2026

On the MG HS: fitted on every one of the 2 windscreen variants we list; model years 2020–2026.

Acoustic glass reduces cabin noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride.

    What it means

Acoustic windscreen glass is laminated with a special acoustic interlayer that absorbs and dampens sound vibrations. It reduces exterior noise—from traffic, wind, and road surface—before it enters the passenger compartment. This makes the cabin noticeably quieter and creates a more peaceful driving experience. It's a comfort feature, not a safety one; standard laminated windscreens already meet impact safety requirements.

    How to tell

Check your windscreen for an ear symbol, the word 'Acoustic', a capital 'A', or the term 'SoundScreen' printed in one of the four corners. These markings indicate acoustic-grade glass. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre whether your model came fitted with acoustic glass—it's often a factory option on comfort or premium trims.

    Replacement impact

Acoustic glass is always laminated and bonds to the frame like any standard windscreen, so replacement follows the normal bonded-glass procedure. No specialist calibration is required. The replacement technician will fit it using standard adhesive and sealant. Cure time and drive-away restrictions are identical to standard laminated windscreens. Acoustic glass is widely available as an aftermarket OE-equivalent option.

About the MG HS

The MG HS is MG's flagship mid-size SUV, launched in 2020 and now available across the UK market with a consistent specification. All current HS models are equipped with MG Pilot, the brand's integrated driver-assistance suite, which uses a forward-facing camera mounted at the windscreen to support adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping, emergency braking, and collision avoidance.

This means every MG HS windscreen carries a camera bracket and requires ADAS recalibration after replacement. The glass itself is laminated with a rain sensor and comes fully encapsulated — the rubber trim is factory-bonded to the glass edges, so replacements arrive as a complete unit ready to fit.

All current models carry the VIN notch at the base of the windscreen and feature clear (non-tinted) lamination — a straightforward, consistent specification that makes sourcing and fitting reliable across the range.

Some MG HS windscreens carry a camera that may need recalibrating after fitting. Read about ADAS calibration.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Yes. All current MG HS models carry the MG Pilot forward-facing camera for lane-keeping, adaptive cruise, and emergency braking. The camera must be recalibrated after the windscreen is replaced to ensure these safety features work correctly.

This is done using specialist diagnostic equipment at a workshop and is included as part of your replacement quote.

The bracket itself typically transfers from your old windscreen to the new one. The moulded trim cover that protects the camera — called the bracket-for-safety-features shroud — is either transferred or supplied new with your replacement glass, depending on its condition.

Your technician will arrive at the workshop, remove the old windscreen and transfer any reusable trim components, then fit the new encapsulated glass using fresh seals. Once the glass is set, the camera is recalibrated on-site — this typically takes longer than a windscreen without cameras, but the cure runs in parallel so you're not delayed by calibration.

The technician confirms your drive-away time before leaving, and you're covered by a two-year warranty.

No. All current MG HS models in the UK market are supplied with clear laminated windscreen glass as standard, so your replacement will also be clear.
