Honda Prelude windscreen price, by year

Price variation reflects generation differences and the presence or absence of specialised tinting. Earlier models with basic laminated glass are typically the most affordable. Later Preludes with blue tint or blue sun-strip variants carry modest uplifts, as do any acoustic or solar-control options found on higher-specification trims.

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car

Had to replace the windscreen on our 18 year old car because it had become dangerous due to thousands of micro chips. The low winter sun made it impossible to see out of. Searching online found UK Car Glass. The price was reasonable and I made an online booking for 2 days later. Unfortunately due to storms a nice lady from the company phoned me and asked if we could postpone fitting for 2 days till the weather cleared which was no problem. The fitter turned up as promised and the job was done within half an hour. Overall a good experience. UK Car Glass appear to be a nationwide company who sub contract to existing windscreen fitting companies. In view of this it may be worthwhile directly contacting a local firm first to check their pricing as it's possible they may be a bit cheaper because their won't be a middleman. However, I've no complaints. Ease of booking, communication etc is excellent.

More professional than autoglass

Polite, prompt and efficient. Contacted Uk Car Glass and autoglass for quotes, autoglass were suppose to call with in a window and they didn’t, by the time they contacted me the job had been done.

Very happy with UK car glass

Very happy with UK car glass. They offered the lowest quote and an online booking service. After an initial confirmation email, I heard nothing further for a week, so I called to check that my car was still booked in for a new windscreen. I was informed that it was and they would be in touch to confirm the ETA. The team kept me informed over the weekend, the technician called and updated me again on the day, and arrived when he said he would. The screen was changed efficiently and the technician was polite and helpful. I would use the company again and recommend UK car glass to others.

What to expect during your Honda Prelude windscreen replacement

Prelude windscreen replacement through UKCG follows a simple four-step process.

  1. 1

Book online using our quick quiz to identify your exact variant—takes about a minute.

  2. 2

Our team confirms your glass specification during the parts-check stage, ensuring your replacement matches the original factory fit.

  3. 3

You'll be matched with an approved fitter in your area who will contact you to arrange a convenient time.

  4. 4

On the day, your fitter replaces the windscreen—typically 45–90 minutes depending on your specific model—and confirms the minimum drive-away time before leaving.

  5. 5

Your replacement is covered by our standard two-year warranty on workmanship and glass quality.

The entire process, from quote to booking, takes just minutes online.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit for your Prelude?

Most Prelude windscreen replacements are carried out mobile at your home or workplace—no ADAS calibration is required, so there's no reason to visit a workshop unless you prefer it.

Your approved fitter will confirm the location with you at booking and will arrange the most convenient option for your circumstances.

We confirm the specific answer for your vehicle when you book.

What features does your Prelude have?

Tap a feature to see what it is, how to spot it on your car, and how it affects glass replacement. We confirm the exact match for your vehicle when you book.

  • Blue5
    1983–1996

On the Honda Prelude: fitted on 5 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (83%); model years 1983–1996.

    What it means

A subtle blue tint in the glass that is genuinely hard to see unless you look carefully—it reduces heat and glare without darkening the cabin.

    On your Honda Prelude

Fitted to the majority of Prelude variants in our catalogue. If your Prelude is from the late 1980s onwards, blue tint is very likely; confirmed during your quote.

  • Blue Sun Strip2
    1983–1996

On the Honda Prelude: fitted on 2 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (33%); model years 1983–1996.

    What it means

A blue-tinted gradient band running across the top of the windscreen—a sun strip that reduces glare from above without affecting your main field of view. This effect is built into the laminate and cannot be replicated with a plain windscreen.

    On your Honda Prelude

Found on roughly four in ten Prelude variants. Later generations and higher trims are more likely to have the sun strip; your quote will confirm whether your exact model carries it.

  • Green1
    1997–2000

On the Honda Prelude: fitted on 1 of the 6 windscreen variants we list (17%); model years 1997–2000.

    What it means

A subtle green tint in the glass, comparable to blue tint in subtlety—hard to see on first glance but effective at reducing heat and glare.

    On your Honda Prelude

Less common across our Prelude stock. Present on select variants; confirmed during the quote process.

About the Honda Prelude

The Honda Prelude is a front-wheel-drive sports coupé that enjoyed a two-decade production run across four generations, with windscreen specifications evolving alongside the model's refinement journey.

Earlier generations (1980s–early 1990s) carry straightforward laminated windscreens; later Preludes introduced blue-tinted glass and, on select variants, blue sun strips—a tinted gradient band across the top of the windscreen that reduces glare from above without affecting the driver's main field of view.

No Prelude in our catalogue is equipped with Honda Sensing or camera-based ADAS, so windscreen replacement is straightforward without calibration complexity.

Frequently asked questions

The questions customers ask us most often.

You don't need to know. Our online widget asks a few quick questions — make, model, year, and a couple of feature details — to narrow the variant down. Once booked, our parts check team verifies the exact specification against your VIN before the job is dispatched.

Almost always, yes, where a forward-facing camera is fitted. The technicians in our network include ADAS-calibration-certified specialists — we confirm whether your job needs a workshop or can complete on your driveway when we book.

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, features and trim fitment as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Most windscreen replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — for example, windscreens with ADAS cameras needing static calibration, or where access to power, shelter, or controlled conditions makes the work safer indoors. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Most windscreen replacements take 45–90 minutes of the technician's time. ADAS calibration extends the technician's time on the job, but cure time runs in parallel — so it doesn't usually delay when you can drive. Your technician will confirm exact timings on the day.

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.

Yes. Earlier 1980s–early 1990s Preludes carry basic laminated windscreens with minimal tinting. From the late 1980s onwards, blue-tinted glass became standard on many variants, with blue sun strips added to select higher-trim models.

Our quote process identifies your exact generation and specification, so your replacement will always match the original factory glass.

No. The Honda Prelude predates Honda Sensing and modern camera-based driver-assistance systems, so no calibration is needed after replacement. This keeps the job straightforward and the fitting time predictable.

Technician time is typically 45–90 minutes, depending on the specific generation and trim. Your fitter will confirm the exact duration and minimum drive-away time on the day, so you'll know when you can safely drive the car.

No. A blue sun strip is built into the laminate during manufacture and cannot be added afterwards. Your replacement must be the sun-strip variant to match the original.

Our parts-check team verifies this at booking, so you'll receive the correct glass without guesswork.
