About Proton windscreen replacement

Proton has built a reputation for practical, affordable motoring across its compact and mid-size model range. The Savvy, a versatile city car, represents the brand's focus on value-driven design and everyday reliability. Windscreens fitted to Proton vehicles are laminated safety glass, meeting UK road standards. Like most vehicles in the budget-conscious segment, standard Savvy models typically carry basic windscreen glass without the acoustic or solar-tinted options found on premium rivals. Proton's adoption of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) remains limited across the current range, meaning the majority of windscreen replacements on Proton vehicles do not require post-fit camera calibration. This keeps fitting straightforward and mobile-friendly for most owners.

What drives Proton windscreen prices

Windscreen replacement costs for Proton vehicles are generally competitive, reflecting the brand's positioning in the accessible market segment. The Savvy's single active variant means limited trim-driven variation — price differences mainly stem from whether the vehicle is fitted with optional features like tinted or acoustic glass, and whether any ADAS calibration is needed on newer models.

Mobile fitting or workshop visit

Most Proton windscreen replacements can be completed at your preferred location — home, work, or a workshop — since ADAS calibration is uncommon across the current range. Should any future Proton model introduce camera-based driver assistance, workshop fitting would become necessary for those variants to ensure proper calibration in a controlled environment.

Excellent

Arrived on time, took a little bit longer to replace the rear window on a corsa hatchback but the work was excellent and all the broken glass was retrieved and disposed of. The guy from UK glass was very thorough and I would recommend this company should you need any car windows/windscreens replacing.

    2006–2013

Green tint reduces glare and improves visual comfort by filtering certain light wavelengths.

    What it means

Green tint is a light-filtering coating applied to the glass during manufacture. It absorbs and reduces transmission of certain wavelengths of light, primarily to cut glare from sunlight and reflections. The tint is subtle — often barely visible to the naked eye — but measurably improves visual comfort during prolonged driving, particularly in bright conditions. It's a factory specification chosen by the vehicle manufacturer to balance daylight comfort with interior visibility and aesthetic consistency across all glass in the vehicle.

    How to tell

The easiest way to check is to roll your side window halfway down and hold a piece of white paper behind it. Look carefully for a tint cast — green tint will appear as a subtle green hue compared to clear glass. Your windscreen will have the same tint as your side windows. You can also ask your vehicle's dealership or service centre — they'll have the original specification on file.

    Replacement impact

Green-tinted replacement glass must match the original tint specification to maintain visual consistency across all windows and preserve the vehicle's interior aesthetics. Aftermarket OE-equivalent (OEE) green-tinted glass is widely available, though some vehicles may require original equipment (OEM) dealership glass if the tint specification is proprietary. Tint does not affect calibration, cure time, or installation procedure — it's a cosmetic and functional specification only.
