Question 1

How long does a rear window replacement take?

Accepted Answer

Most rear window replacements take under an hour of the technician's time. Shard cleanup adds variable time depending on access — your technician will give you a more precise estimate when they arrive.

Question 2

Will my interior need cleaning afterwards?

Accepted Answer

A shattered rear window means shard cleanup is part of the job. The technician will clear as much accessible broken glass as possible, but small shards can lodge in places that need deeper access (under seats, in seatbelt mechanisms, in trim channels). For thorough interior detailing afterwards, we recommend booking a professional valet.

Question 3

Is the replacement glass OEM or aftermarket?

Accepted Answer

Your replacement glass matches your original factory specification — same size, tint, and any heating elements or aerial wiring as the glass the car left the factory with. It's UK-approved for the road and typically supplied by tier-1 manufacturers like Pilkington, Saint-Gobain, and AGC.

OEM-branded glass (with the vehicle-maker logo) is available on request at a higher price.

Question 4

Can you come to my home or work?

Accepted Answer

Most rear window replacements happen at your chosen location — home, office, or car park. Some jobs are better suited to a workshop — typically when access to power (for vacuum cleanup), shelter, or controlled conditions for adhesive bonding is needed. We let you know when we confirm your booking.

Question 5

Does my insurance cover this?

Accepted Answer

Most UK comprehensive policies include glass cover, typically with an excess of £75–£100. If your insurer is on our approved list, the specialist you're matched with bills them directly and you just pay the excess.

Otherwise you can pay UK Car Glass directly and claim back from your insurer — our all-inclusive price is often lower than the excess anyway, so paying direct can work out cheaper.

Question 6

What's the warranty?

Accepted Answer

Two years on workmanship defects — water leaks, wind noise, bonding failures — from the date of replacement. If the specialist's work isn't right, we arrange to put it right under the warranty process.
