The Volvo S70 hit the market in 1997, replacing the 850 model. Its sleek design, rounded edges, and new front fascia featuring brand-new headlights made the S70 more stylish than its predecessors. It was built on the same platform as the 850 but featured a Swedish biodesign look. The R versions of the S70/V70 were directed at the sporty premium segment, competing directly with Audi.
